COVID Brown. I'm always trying to spend like an hour more, but you said if we're not together, the fuck that these flowers bore. The highs you give me, put me on that stage when I'm not on tour, and everybody said that's hard to find. Then she said I live in that, I'm my own design, but when we talk and goes, it gets harder to pick aside the trophies I collect my seeming little pointless without your smile. But till then, I might just say thank you for popping by. Moments from now at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California. Happy holidays. Just about halfway through the season, let's take a look at how things stand in the West. Taking a look at Golden State. They are holding down the number one spot in the conference. Not a bad position to be in. And, of course, the Dallas Mavericks, back two and a half games. Well, I think for Golden State, there is a lot of talent on this team, and they've delivered. They're having a great season, and it's only left their fans wanting more. Well, how about the momentum they have built to get off to this fantastic start? All positive vibes right now for this group. So here's Dallas's starting group. Luca and Kyrie are the talented backboard. Josh Green out there with Washington, and it's Gafford, in at the five, roaming the pain. And for the Warriors... Wiggins at the 3 with Draymont at the 4. Then it's Clay Thompson, and it's Jackson Davis in its center. And what can you say about Lucas that has not already been said? Here's a guy in his mid-20s and a perennial MVP candidate, Doris. His career is off to an extraordinary star. He's drawn comparisons to the legends of the game, and like so many of the greats, VA. He is a one-of-one. The ability to command the game from all aspects is truly something to behold. Now here's Irving. Last game out, he had 44. Donchich, good. Nice touch pass right there by Kyrie Irving. That was pretty. Donchich has gone two for two so far from three. Wiggins finds green. Here's key Jonas. Knocks down the triple. He noticed he's got his second bucket of the night. And talk about payback. He hits the revenge triple. Oh, you love to see the competitive fire, a little bit of pride at stake. That one goes, counting. Boy, they came ready to play. That's four straight buckets to start the game. Up top Thompson, pass to Wiggins. Fires the three. Thompson, no good, and he almost made them regret defending him so loosely. Down low. Green. And it's hammered home by Green. How good a playmaker are we watching, always leading, always trying to create for others. Outside, green. Driving inside. Over Washington, and that one's good. Green. Customs seeing Draymond Green make the pass, but how about that catch and shoot delivery nice? To the inside. And Washington powers it through. Oh, nice one-handed jam, NBA. Hey, a little exclamation point. Back to Wiggins. Thompson passes to Wiggins. Back to Thompson. From the arc, counted from distance. With the NBA season out of its early stages now, Grant, there have been more than a few surprises. Oh, I love surprises. And every season, there are a few guys to take a major leap forward. Something just clicks for them, or the skills all just come together. But regardless, it's always a fun surprise for fans and broadcasters, too. And taking a broader look here. at the year-over-year scoring trend for Tobias Harris. And the scoring trend over the last few years has been going down a bit. That's not what you want, and I'm sure it's something he's well aware of. Here's Quignonas. Coming off a 12-point game. Thompson against Irving. Here's Green. Donchitz pulls down the board. And Donchich just got the ball here for Dallas, leading by five. They want to keep rolling here, following a win against Minnesota. Sometimes it's difficult to get good looks on the road, but they ran the offense brilliantly. Well, they knew exactly how to approach that defense. They shot a fantastic percentage because they got quality looks. Here's Quignonas, five points in the game. Pass to Wiggins. Just five to shoot. This one for three. Gafford grabs the miss. The Mavericks have got 7 of 8 in the basket. From deep, here's Donchich. Man, can't connect on that one. His first miss, he's two of three now. And Grant the Mavericks this summer, committing to their superstar tandem of Kyrie Irving and Luca Donchich. The NBA, and the next step was surrounding them with the defensive floor spacing they'll need to compete. Overall, I like the moves they made. and we'll see how it all hands out. I'll tell you, that vertical ability he has puts him in select company in NBA power forwards. May not have great size, but boy, he plays bigger than it. Now here's Thompson. In the game against Miami, very impressive. And it's green missing. I think he's got to settle down, because right now it feels like he's rushing, like he's forcing some shots. This quarter he has been completely bothered. The Warriors trailing, off the inbound pass. And Tobias Harris, good for three. And the coaches rave about Harris in his three-point shooting. Helps his team space the floor. To the paint, Washington. And Washington powers it through. Huge-sized disadvantage for the defense. Might as well just get out of the way. Pass to Petimski. There's Jackson Davis. And the three off target. has gone two for four from range to start things off. About seven seconds separating the shot game clocks. Yeah, the court awareness that Luca plays with knows exactly when and where to deliver the pass. The Warriors have gotten five of 11 shots to go. Here's Pajemski, fires from deep. Nice start for him, sinking his first shot, back-to-back threes, making their defense work on the perimeter a bit. Donchich deciding where to go with it. With one on the clock, BJ Washington, east fielded it tonight, and has been the driving force for the Dallas Mavericks. Eight points in the quarter showing how... Hope you've enjoyed the broadcast so far, halfway through the first half in this one. And a chance for a moment to check out the scoring breakdown for the Mavericks. Well, you gotta be impressed with how selfless they've been so far. Their passing has been simply outstanding. And they've also shown dominance in the paint so far tonight, really putting the work in down low. On the court for Dallas here in the second. Luca and Kyrie are the talented back court. Then there's Maxi Kleba, and it's Exum in at the three. And Donchich, here we go. It's good. Only a few seconds into the shot clock. Donchich has got eight points. Very rarely do you see Donchich out of rhythm with his jump shots, even off the dribble, his accuracy is too good. The Warriors pull it in, and the first season matchup for them against the Mavericks this year. And last year, they won this season series, but then they couldn't get past those guys in the playoffs. The Mavericks leading. And they doubled up Irving, and there is the whistle. That's his first foul, Jones, he's checked in for the Mavericks. Pass to Exum, takes one from 10 feet, the putback. It's good on the putback. The Luca Dodgich's size, rebounding is an aspect, always gets to. Nice job creating the second-chance play. The league is already buzzing about this year's three-point contest, so let's have a look at the players likely to make an appearance. The three-point contest only becomes more competitive every year, as long-range shooting continues to be a coveted talent in the league. But these guys are in a league all their own. And you look at Irving, he's currently up there in the voting at number two. So clearly no one is sleeping on his abilities as a lights-out three-point shooter. Yeah, it's his long-range shooting that puts him on another level. Definitely a guy who belongs in this contest. And as we continue to count the votes, we'll update you on any changes to the list. No matter who is in it, though, it's going to be fun. Maybe this is the year we see a perfect score. Who knows? I'll be sure to be locked in on all of All-Star Weekend, especially the three -point contest. A moment here for an injury report. And Alice check in with Ali LaForest to see how Daniel Gafford's doing. Ali? Guys, I was able to catch up with Dallas's head athletic trainer. He said it doesn't look good at all. They are very concerned. It is a major loss right in the thick of the season. Other guys will have to step up. Let's see who answers the call. All right, Ali, thank you. Sadly, that's not the news fans who are hoping for, guys. Definitely not. Seems like he's got a long, tough road ahead of it. And our hearts go out, Jim. worked so hard, his teammates love him, coaches love him, he's going to be missing. Let's check in with our reporter, Ali LaForce. KBA, well, Kyrie Irving is a deadly closer when the game is on the line. Where did it come from? He said, quote, studying the greats and striving to be greater than them. There's a commonality in the way they control emotions at the end of the game. I've been able to learn over time. Brian? Well, he's hit some big shots. Thanks, Allie, good stuff there. Right for those just joining us, we're almost two and a half minutes into the second. Jones from outside. That's the three ball to go. That's how you up the ante. Come right back at him. And you would expect nothing less from these two, taking pride and making plays. Peyton, no good. You've got to love how they've been crashing the boards, fighting hard for every miss. Here's Ex-em. That one falls. Great setup by Donchich. This is good two. Donchich has got his seventh assist to the game with that last one. Here's Quignonas, started by Donchich. Pass to Thompson. And here's Peyton. Shot clock at six, fires the three. Thompson's shot shot is off. Just enough of a shot contest to bother. Exa passes to Donchich. Here's Irving. Oh, and makes it with the kiss. Irving's got six points. We've seen that more than once today. An effortless basket inside. Offensive rebound. Green in the post. Pass to Harris to stop the run. And it's Irving with a rebound. And the defense got away with one there. I mean, that's the shot he typically makes. You know, when you think about Kyrie Irving's game, his ball handling is what still comes to mind first. Yeah, you know, that and his killer instinct. Kyri is one of the most creative players we've ever seen, a guy you can count on to come through with big moments. How easy is it to appreciate the intensity with which Draymond and Green plays? The best thieves in the league, the steals leaders over the last month. Third is Luca Donchich. His defensive focus has been superb these last few games, continuously finding ways to strip ball handlers and upset the offense. Pass to Washington. Now here's Donchich, tight defense on him. Green for three. It's rebounded by Golden State. They're coming off that win against the heat. And that one, the other team could not keep up with them offensive. They were prolific. Well, let's give some credit to the coaching staff as well, recognizing the weaknesses in that defense and going after each one of them. Irving, that's good. That is pure from Kyrie. Fantastic working off the catch. Seven second difference between the shot clock and the game clock. Thompson against Irving. Thompson passes to Green. The basket's good, off the assist from Thompson. Green's got five points now in the quarter. Here's Irving, give him eight points now. Green, the pass to Irving, and they come right back with their own three-pointer-pointer. Irving's got 11 points. Kyrie Irving is capable of going shot for shot. The three from Thompson. That one is off. And so it's Dallas with a nine-point cushion at the end of the quarter. Getting lots of great looks, shooting it. Well, that's why they're up. I'll now a minute to check in with... Thank you, Allie, good stuff. We will be right back after this break for the beginning of the third quarter. Hey folks, and you look at the league, Shaq, you've said today's players are pudding pops, which by the way are delicious. Any other des... And now looking at that first half of play, what a performance from the great Luca Donchich. At times it's... Thanks for joining us. Time to head back over to the third quarter. And we've got third quarter basketball here, two quarters in the books. Well, you look at Kyrie Irving in this game, he's been everywhere. Yeah, they've done an amazing job of creating room to operate for him, and then, of course, executing. One of the things every player is after is efficiency at the offensive end, and boy, this young guy has done just that. Thompson and Wiggins on the wing, then there's Draymond Green, and it's Kignonas in at the point guard. So that's the group out there for Golden State. Oh, love the intensity in Wichester hitting the boards. Green in the post, pounded by Wiggins. Donch it. Oh, it's blocked by Green. Simply cannot throw up that hot stuff around Draymond Green. You'll hear about it. He will relish the opportunity to send it back. And Thompson gets it to go. The postseason is just different from the regular season. It's 100% another level. I'll never forget my first series, 1996 against the great Shaquille O'Neill and Penny Hardaway of the Orlando Magic. Of course, yeah, my pistons got swept. That was quite an introduction to the playoffs. And he probably thought he was going to bury that one. Wiggins against Green, outside for Irving. From outside, off the mark. Well, an open three start to the half, you need to pick it up and start to put some pressure on your opponent. Pass to Quignonas, back to Thompson. Now here's Wiggins. Jacks up a three. And the rebound goes to the Bavrits. Donchich has got four rebounds now. by Gaffords. Boy, there is an artistry and a feel to Luca Donchich's game. This guy is elite with his playmaking. Firing up to 2K leaderboard, the NBA's leaders in shooting over the last month. The Warriors, number one, Dallas, fourth. And lately, both teams have been shooting the lights out. You know each is hoping that this trend continues moving forward. And let's swing it over to the sideline and hear from Ali. The Mavericks are hoping they have what it takes to bring home the Larry O'Brien Trophy, and Luca Donchitz said, quote, that's everything. I want to win the championship here. It's our goal every season. It's a lot of work, and there are so many great teams in the league. Anybody can beat you at this point. You have to really be ready. Yeah, good stuff there, Ali, thank you. And now it's time to take another view of that huge swat. Let's see if that block can amp up this team. I mean, they're looking for anything to get themselves going. Dallas has gone 0 for two from outside here in the third. Irving, the pass to Donchich. Back to Irving from outside the arc. No good there. Six for 11 now from the floor. Golden State is gone, only one of three from deep here in the third. Pass to Quignonas. Wiggins with it. Gaffert picks him up. Here's Quigionis. The three from Thompson. Gafford grabs the miss. Gaffert's got eight rebounds in the game. Washington outside. Donchich on the wing. No good on the triple. Well, they have the advantage, but you still feel like this guy needs to find a way to get himself going. I'll tell you, he is so tough to keep down once he gets near that rim. Yeah, he can get up even a few notches higher. And Dallas calls time here. It looks now like he's in a lot of pain. They call timeout, and the trainer's going to have a chance to check him out. Third quarter here, and three minutes have come off. Three quarter here, and three minutes have come off the clock. Three for three. Washington powers it through. And I just love how he's making the effort plays that everyone around him appreciates. It is certainly making an impact tonight. No doubt, on the scoreboard in the body language of the players you can tell which team is in complete command. As the deep shots continue to fall, you can sense the frustration growing among these defenders. A different look for Dallas. Jones comes in for Washington, and Hardaway subbed in for Irving. A little under three and a half minutes off the clock now in the third quarter. Pass to Donchich. Outside for Green, takes the three, pure from three-point range. Green's got his second basket on the night. This is as pure a shooter as there is. You've got to stay connected or it's a problem. Out of bounds, it'll be Mavericks ball. And even losing big, you have to maintain composure if you want to avoid embarrassment. Now Donchich, 10 points for him. Outside Hardaway. For three, Jackson Davis grabs a miss. Golden State has gone two for five from three since halftime. Here's Green. Wasted no time with that shot, but it's off the mark. Not tell you, they're going to need more from this guy if they're going to cut into this deficit. And a foul called on the way up, so he'll take two from the free throw line. Hey, you can't block it. Sending him to the line can be the next best thing. Josh Green, two shots. And he can't get the first one. Good on the second one. There's 49 seconds left in the third quarter of the game. Pass to Jackson Davis, to the wing, right side. Here's Potimski. Connect from downtown. Pachimski's got six. That right there, that's the kind of look this system is designed to create. Here's lively. finished with a hand right in his face. They're winning the battle down low by imposing their will. Golden State has gotten three of six threes to fall in the third quarter. Passed at Pajemski. Let's the three fly. Another three for Golden State. They are unconscious from outside, and so far, the defense has had no answer. Well, that's the whole point. If you space the floor well enough, it's almost impossible for the defense to account for everyone. This is just fun. These teams are trading threes back and forth. Well, that three-point shot just gives you so much room to operate on the offensive end. Here's Pajemski. And here's Green from the ark. And so it's the Dallas Mavericks. Burning this break in the action, up 10. Their key to consistency has been their dominance in the paint. They've been the... All right, let's take a look at our assist of the game, presented by State Farm. You can count on him to deliver a few assists like this one each and every night. You know a thing or two about a point guard's job. Set the table for your teammates, done there perfectly. Fourth quarter action is upon us. Thanks, as always, for joining us. On the floor for Dallas starting the fourth quarter. Tim Hardaway is out there with Kyrie Irving. Then there's PJ Washington, and it's Ex-em in at the small forward position. They really have a commanding lead, not just in points, but in rebounds as well. Irving for three. And it's Harris with the rebound. Well, after hitting one triple in the first half, it's been all radio silence since. Here's Thompson. Buckets. He's now six of ten from the field. Looks late Thompson is dialed in. For the defense, that's a problem. Irving for three. Another miss by Irving. He continues to let it fly, but the makes have been few and far between. Pass to Thompson. Let's go with a three. Oh, Thompson buries the trade. Boy, picking up where he left off, his second distances have five overall. Outside Hardaway. Back to Irving. Washington, outside. Basket is good. Nice setup from Irving. Irving's got assist number seven tonight. And they keep attacking from the three-point range here in the second half. Thompson outside. Pass to Harris. And the Warriors with another three. Yeah, and a triple from Harris, matching the one on the other end. Just great back and forth. The Mavericks making a switch here. A moment to hear from Ali LaForce. Thanks, guys. Jason Kidd had some words for his team over the break. He implored his team to use the clock. He said the clock is our friend. No need to rush things unless they give us a free one. Let's squeeze them out of this game. Back to you, Brian. All…
