Farming the Survival bots π€ - Will it be worth it?? by @papageno26 on 3Speak
This was a very crude attempt from me to create a compilation of battles. Hopefully I will get better with editing them! π Hope you find some of the battles insightful. It was a really boring proc...

Hello everyone, I'm Papagino. It's been a while since I've been very focused on Splinterlands, I would say at least a couple of months. I haven't really submitted in many battles recently. I've been on vacation of work. I resume working soon, but before then I noticed, I found out... there's going to be this sort of promotion where people that complete 250 battles in a season in survival get quite a surprising amount of glint as a reward in order to help the developers sort of test the liquidity bots and whatnot. I decided since I still had some time to jump into it and see if I could get so many battles in and I'm here to tell you eventually I did. It was a little bit boring. I'm not going to lie, especially since most of my opponents were, of course, bots. Very rarely they were human opponents as far as I could tell, so that's a little bit sad, but what can you do? But, yeah, I did do that many battles. All the battles you see in the video were from this last season of survival towards, let's say, the end of August, and they were from the modern bronze bracket, which is where I like to play pretty much all the time, because this is where I have all my cards, pretty much. I did buy some higher-level summoners, such as Lorcas, and even the new water one, the sort of cow magic thingy for the water team, I don't remember its name, sadly right now, but I did get a silver-level copy of that one as well, but I'm not really using them much at all other than in ranked from time to time. I don't always have the time to use all my energy for the battles there. and otherwise in some tournaments, but without much luck because I don't really have all the leveled up units other than the reward cards for the most part. But yeah, I did do a little bit of shopping and investing in some units here and there lately as well, which is interesting. It's always funny to look back now that we're moving along with the... sets in the game. It's funny to look back at the older sets, sort of like beta, untamed and whatnot, and see how the cards are doing, how rare they are, what's their value, their price, you know, so that's always interesting and sort of just try and see if the premise behind the... The game, the core idea that the cards can retain their value is solid and proven or otherwise. And I'd say some of those old cards, although they don't have as many use cases, right? Because it's all about modern for the most part where you earn the most, some of those old cards are still keeping their value quite nicely. So that's comforting, in a way. However, when it comes to the survival mode specifically, you can see it's only bronze, just bronze for me, that's really where I play. I notice a few good players here and there, human players from time to time, and we sort of have rivalries, or at least on my end, I'm always sort of excited to square up against them because it makes for a more fun... competition. However, you can see that most of these battles are predominantly against bots, I think you can tell just by the names of the accounts and the cards they're playing. Now, at the moment of recording this, I hadn't played survival in a few seasons, I think, really. So I started from zero pretty much, but I did all my 250 battles. It was very boring and tiring, but I did it for the glint. And I obtained the, at least at the time of recording this, I obtained the second spot on the leaderboard. I don't know if I want to fight for the first spot or even fight to preserve my second spot, but it's a pretty good chance I'll finish on the... podium, so to speak at least, so that should be nice and nice reward in terms of glint and cards and all that. Should be very, very nice. While doing my battles, I listened to the last couple of Splinterlands Townall with the developers. I've heard news of the, sadly, the strategy they've had to adopt, to really scale back the team in order to make the whole effort more sustainable economically, which is a pit, I'm sure it sucks for them, so that shows they're acting in good faith and they're making sacrifices, so that's interesting and very nice. I guess it's a reason for us to believe in Splinterlands a little bit. Not many games of this kind really stick around for as long as they have so far, so that's comforting. The price of the SPS, I remember, a month or two ago, really dropped to the all-time low, I think, of, what was it? Point... to wait cents per SPS, something like that, so it was quite low. We recovered a little bit ever since then, perhaps also, as I understand, because of this new direction, the team has chosen, perhaps some other reason, perhaps the Bitcoin sort of a little rally it had recently, also... inspired in some way the SPS price to go up. Anyway, some of the interesting things I sort of gathered from these town hall videos were that land is being worked on some new features of land, let's say. I'm not really interested in that. I'm not involved, invested in land, but I... understand that it will be becoming more important in the future with perhaps spells and items, as they call them. My hope with that is just really that it will allow players to, so long as they have the money and the resources or whatever, lower players will be able to compete on an even level against their equals. So that's really my only wish. As far as all that is concerned, let's hope it will materialize in some reasonable form along those lines, really. And otherwise, yeah, it was all pretty vague in terms of what's coming. Of course, the new expansion set will be coming in a few months, I think, towards the end of the year and perhaps the beginning of the new one, something like that. and I know the Guild rework overall is still a bit of a way away, so I don't know what else I have to look forward to based on what they talked about there. Those are all exciting things, but it will still take time, but the most exciting thing, of course, and it's something I talk pretty much all the time whenever I post on Hive. is the final, fingers crossed, comeback of the leagues system, finally. As they call it now, the brackets, sort of in reference to what we have in survival, should be something similar, so I'm really looking forward to that. I understand it's a few weeks, maybe a month away from now, so I will be really interested in... how it feels to play once again after so much time against an even opposition. So, I'm really excited about that. I did have some nice battles in a novice tournament recently. I may or may not make a post about it because it really takes a bit of time and I don't know if I can be bothered, but I'm still having fun with tournaments and whatnot. I rented a bunch of SPS to play in survival and unranked as well. So much as I don't like ranked, I still try to make the most of the rented SPS and accumulate some rewards. And it's been overall reasonably enjoyable to play some more splinter lens once again, and I'm looking forward to the... Next changes.
