For those who were, you know now, people like school, back then, let's say, from 10 years to 14 years ago, the name is the Edemeca, Eidekeke, is a family name, is the brand, you know now. So you should know, it's the edema, and you should know him when it comes to discipline. And that is why we've case fully selected him as our case for today's edition of the show. So Mr. Demeka, the Demeka will be our guest for today's edition of the show. As we talk about discipline, then, and discipline. Now, what has changed? What have we missed? What are we supposed to fix? So, dear friends, they put fast in a seatbelt and go no way. As today's show is going to be insightful and educative. Thank you once again for... joining us on today's edition of the show as I bring my guest. Welcome back to the show, dear friends. As I told you earlier, we have a very great education as a guest on today's edition of the show. The fear of Mr. Emeka Bhakti was the beginning of wisdom. Welcome to the show, sir. Thank you very much. It's a pleasure meeting you on education matters, Mr. Sissor. It's an honor to have you in our show today, sir. I must appreciate you for coming on education matters today. So before we proceed, a pre-introduction, let our guests know who you are. Ladies and gentlemen, good afternoon, good morning, wherever you are. I am Edemeka, Udo, a Demeca. I have been teaching for a couple of years now, college in about 20-something years, 2002, to be precise, to teach. and I teach mathematics, it's a subject I love most. And God helping me, he has also helped me to produce people to further on where I have stopped and more to do better than what I have done. Like with statisticson here was one of my best students back then in school, very, very intelligent. Today, he's no longer student, and we are now colleagues. I'm happy to be here in education matters. Thank you very boss, sir. To be honest, sir, Mr. Dimecker was my master teacher back then in secondary school, and I must say, I'm a partaker of his discipline and also a beneficiary, because those disciplines has also contributed to shape me to the level that I have today. So thank you very much, sir, and thank you for appearing on the show once again. So, sir, before we continue, discipline, what do you understand? understand that discipline. How can you, in a very short definition? Just let us know what discipline is about. Discipline is a measure, thank you very much, discipline is a measure of controlling or check -lating human being not to go astray. And, to be sincere, this discipline starts from home. Every child needs to be well disciplined. It's just a matter of you telling somebody, this thing you are doing is wrong, this thing you are doing is right, encourage you somebody to move in a physical or self -discipline in any environment they find themselves. Okay, thank you very much. And I like the part that you say it starts from home. Discipline in the past and discipline now. What has changed? Like, I was disciplined in the past. and how is discipline now? What can you say about that aspects? Thank you very much, once again. I was discussing with a friend on discipline then and discipline now, and said I knew something like this was going to come up. But the person told me that discipline then was analog and discipline now is digital. was what every student was used to discipline themselves. But once you know you've committed an offense, you see that you are being floored, we have been given grasses to court, you are asked to nail that if you get nothing throughout the day, we walk on your needs and do all kinds of manual, corporal, manual punishment. And at the end of the day, it is discovered that then, when I remember what my friend says, I see it as a digital age. and then as an analog age of discipline. Then I also want to give it into the digital age of discipline, whereby, yes, a child needs to be flog, but this termination will become more careful. We become more careful the way we flog. One, you don't just flog for flogging sake anymore. You flog, you need to know where the child has come from, where the child has made this or are errors, let the child know this or our mistakes. why you are doing it and why you are not doing it. Whereas in those days, nobody cares to ask. Once the report is being made, lie down there. Before the report is, it needs to be wrong. But this day, you come to the star, everything we need counseling, we need to get close to the children so that they will not be scared of us anymore. But, but sir, in those days, there's a saying that students or pupils in those days were more discipline. than student of today. Like, in those days, don't you think that an analog kind of discipline, do what? Because what we are experiencing on seeing in school and in the education sector these days is something else and it is getting out of mind. What can you say about that particular? The analog term of system, actually, if you ask me as a person, I still believe in it. I say believe in it very well. It works more effectively because a child would then take on, no, if I do this, my father is going to punish me, and I would punish our school. And you come to discover that discipline those days was in comprise of a lot of people, discipline from their home, discipline from the community before you get to the school. Then it was a collective responsibility for a child to be disciplined. So when a child commits an offence, an elder that does see him on you, whether it's your son or not, the elder will discipline it, he becomes scared. Discipline along the road, we just walk through a community, why are you going to school now? They don't need to wait for you to get to the school. Discipline in the school, when you come to the school, you collect your own. Now, imagine what you have received. So you've gone to the story, that alone will help strengthen the child. Now, this digital world of discipline brings it to the way whereby you come to school, that you discipline a child for committing one or offense or the other, the next thing you see, the police is, the parents are in school. The next thing you see, the police are in school. The next thing you see, because students, teachers these days are strictly one to be careful the way they flock a child, discipline a child, even not in what floor. discipline a child because if you miss discipline the child, you go in for it. So everybody tends to like, well, let them do what they want to do, which is not the best for the child. Because I can still remember Mr. Upman, the physical education teacher. He was a very close friend to my father, and I think I did something wrong in the class. I was playing, and he came in, and we bumped into each other. The man disciplined me that day. After, punishing me, telling me to Neil down, flogging me. He told me, when I get to my shoot, tell my father that he disciplined me. And I was like getting home to tell my father, because he knew my mother was a teacher and a disciplinary and also, he knew telling my father that I have been flocked by Mr. Elk, but that would amount to another flogging at home. But nowadays, such things does not happen. Instead, you see parents coming to school, trying to harass the teacher. So I feel... Discipline, as you write this, it starts from the house. Because if a child thinks, if I go back home, tell my parents to come and find a teacher, the child can easily do anything. So thank you very much for the point. If I must put in the place, let me not quote the community. It's up 30, there are three or four different communities for now. I mean, okay, I remember once I discipline the child, not because they fought as strongly. and they threw a stone on somebody, and I went there, discipline the child for that, oh my God, the community came looking for me, that why should I film your person? And I began, with that, he would put fear in the heart of the teacher, the teacher himself will be afraid, will now become look for, towards the child, so that I will not be punished, to fear factor will come in, so that I will not be taken to legal law. and be punished or I lose my job, so let me be careful. That extra being, that apprauded or put out that pamphrey, we are actually pamphering the children and not disciplining them. And that alone makes the teacher handicapped. Of course. Thank you very much for that insight. So, sir, since it is like this nowadays, and we have all seen that it is not helping our education system and the school, because I've thought in a private school and one day I heard is a pool, I think a teacher discipline a child, and the child has told the teacher that he would report the teacher to the parents, and at that point the teacher was just confused. So, sir, the way we are seeing discipline now, the pampering method, the digital method of discipline. What is the way forward? Because if it continues like this, I think in the next 10 to 15 years, we might not be able to define what our education system would look like. What are the way forwards? Alright, thank you very much once again. Let me make it great to what I draft here briefly. One would should go back to a traditional and communal method of discipline, where we are now free nights, not that the child should keep, but free nights forward. disciplining of a child. In my community those days, after Ruea, this child belongs to us. So let's discipline them. Then the parents also should be involved, positively, please, because the parents are coming well, and it has brought in a lot of, had introduced a lot of coffees to be sincere among schools. where you can not explain the child. The child loves what he wants to do, knowing fully well, that the parents will not do or will do anything they feel. On Jordan, now, technology, technology are brought him a big discipline to decline a lot in our community. Because this is, now, this, I have been in the technology, a child job brought his school, oh this is my right, the teacher should not love people on this, this, this, this, this, and when that comes in again, you discover that a child becomes much more relaxed in school because he feels, he knows his rights as a child. I'm not saying we to disrespect their child. After a lot, the Bible turns out in Ephesian chapter 6, verse 4, that parents do not provoke your children into rots. So we know that but let us have a free liberty towards discipline. Then parents alone also please. Don't overpower your children. Oh, I know it's difficult. This is my only try. You cannot treat him like this, cannot treat her like that. She or she is the only one I have. It becomes something else. Another thing is let parents endeavor to see that their children live with them. A death a lot. My child is doing with my grandfather. Your grandfather would not, or with his grandfather, his grandfather would not. If you try to discipline them, you'll take me with my child alone, my grandson, you know. And that is a rampant these days. It's rampant. It's rampant everywhere. And finally, place parents to help us help you, enable to view or to checkmate your children pair groups. It inflates them a lot. Thank you very much. So thank you very much once again, sir. I am really honoured to have you in our show today. And we have already, it is about doing, not just listening to it, parents, he made mention of PA group. I think that is one factor also that has contributed to indiscipline in our schools. Check your child, discipline must add way. We only continue from where you stop when you come to school. And the child spends about 7 to 8 hours in school. The rest of the day is being spent at home with you. So do the needful, so that we have a debtor society. Thank you very much, sir. And your parting short, your last word for today's edition of the show, and your advice to the parents and teachers and the education sector as a room. For the education sectors, for teachers. We are building a better generation tomorrow. Let's try as much as you can to help these children, help their parents as well. Most parents may not have time because of their job, their work, or whatsoever. Then parents please too well to assist the teacher. Assist them both at home and wherever you see your child going wrong. You can also let your teacher know, or the student teacher to know, that might even create a much more better discipline. And for every other person who is not a teacher, who is not a parent, as you are coming up, the discipline should be in our watchword. Thank you very. Discipline should be an hour watchword. Thanks. Thank you, dear friends, for staying good and staying till this time on today's edition of the show. See you in our next edition of Education Matters with the system, Samson. Bye for now.
