I was chatting to @steevc yesterday in a comment thread for my first audio album upload using the SPK platform and he was curious to know how I did it. I decided to boot up OBS and do a walkthrough...

Hello everybody and welcome to my office space and I wanted to talk a little bit about the things that I'm finding with the free speak platform and Steve was asking me yesterday about how do albums work and audio uploads. and currently do some code to work as well with AI and stuff like that, but that's a topic for another time, which I might do some more videos on all of that stuff as well. So let me bring up my browser, and I'll go into my other screen, and I'm going to go into Free Speak TV. Move this tab into its own screen. Okay, so if you want to upload something new, you can go into Share. We're talking about music and audio at the moment, so select music and audio. In order to upload, let's say you want to upload more than one auto recording. I've got a number of things that exist on my iCloud accounts, for example. But, no, yours could be anywhere. I've got this sound library folder here, and I've got a number of recordings that I could load up. So I'm going to go for these items here, which are field recordings that I captured last year at some point. We went for some different locations. Anyway, I'm going to just drag and drop those into here, the drop audio files into that space there. And then you can see that the files uploads. or at least their cues to upload. The next step is to go next. And you've got a choice of how they will be published. So you can post them as Snap comments on Snappy. Or you can post them as a standalone post for only work for a single file, or an album post. So, and then Steve, you're asking about that particular post that you saw I shared yesterday, and this is how I did it. You're going to album post, tap on next, and you can then choose from playlists that you've got. I'd be interested to see. how it would work with something I've published previously. So I've got this thing called Sonic Logs. We can create a new one. So it says, it's required to pick or create a playlist. Album posts live inside a playlist, so it's track stay groups inside of a free speak album, which helps exposure and more prominent placement on the audio page. So I'm kind of wondering, Sonic Logs is one that I published yesterday. Will this add these files to that post? The things I enjoyed is when I created for tagging other people's content that I've enjoyed, basically. So I'm kind of inclined to add this under... I do want to try it, though, do want to see what happens if I go with that, but... let's give it a go and see how this ends up on high as well so yeah let's go with this one and the title will be field recordings from different places and this is the title for this post So, I may and may not keep this better, I've got to decide yet. It's really just as an experiment to see how this works. But in tags, of course, work in the normal way that tags do on how I tend to go for things like pop, if you like be, that sort of thing. And description is optional in this case. And the image is something that you want to add. So, I'm going to, or do you have to add it? The main not necessarily be needed is try next. Yeah, appears to be optional. Shared description, optional, leave that blank. Apply to all three tracks and the cover of it. I'm not going to worry about in this instance. So let's tap on next. and so I was going to publish this album, one main post in free speak plus three track comments. Earnings, normal pest rewards, a playlist, Sonic Logs, which is, as I say, a playlist that I've already created. So I'd be interested to see how this uploads, not only to FreeSpeak, but to the other front ends like Peak D and Easoncy. We'll go and have a look at this in a moment. Click and publish. and away it goes. One of the files failed, okay, don't know why. Let's check that the others go up, okay, and give it a re-drive. It doesn't work. It worked this time, okay. Cool. One thing I know is just you see, over the day, when I tried this from my iPad, is that the files do not upload at all, we couldn't get it to work. from Chrome on the iPad, so I don't know that's because the way that browsers work on mobile devices is slightly different to how they work on machines like the Mac, which I'm using here, or Windows or something else, you know, Linux and all those other guys. So I'm going to tap them close and, you know, that's being posted. So if I go into my profile, tap on my channel, it may not appear just yet, but I keep come out of this issue where the patient loads, it might just go into a little bit of a spiral. Yeah, so any moment now, I'm expecting... to see, oh sorry, I'm in the wrong page. So along here, it got videos, shorts, and audio, I was thinking, I expect it'd appear on this page, but of course, it probably doesn't, does it? So there is a tab here for audio, we'll come back to that in a second, I think, if I'm not wrong, I'm going to Sonic Logs, my playlist, and we should see... There you go, field recordings in different places. That's appeared there. You've got these items here are the ones I've just added, so I can tap on that, you can hear. Take a walk around, Bovac this morning, and I'm up by the church, I'm going to find out its name in a minute. So, a recording I made in Slovenia, so that's working, and then... Cool, okay, so if I go back to or tap on the audio link at the top here, you can see all of the audio uploads from various people on the platform. My Sonic Blogs thing is there, and new releases appear down here, you can see by default, if I don't give it a cover image, it uses my... my profile image as a placeholder, and that's cool. I like that, and that's where you need. The question is, how does this look on Peak D, for example? I go into my Peak D account, should be logged in, because I'm logged in earlier on today. I go into my blog, and maybe my posts is a bit of view. It's going to... Field recordings, there you go, it's appeared, of course there's no image, because I didn't give it any images, and you'll see that I didn't give it a description, so it's just got a short description at the top. And these are the embeds for the recordings, now they are showing up as comments. That's how the guys have implemented it from the hive database perspective. So that's cool because that means that you could comment on the reply to the particular recording. This is this sounds great, for example, I don't know, actually post that, so you can have a, you can talk about the individual files here, so this ties in quite well with the idea I had on the high sound library originally, it's sort of fits that idea, so I might revisit that at some point in time. So it looks good in PECD. Obviously, it's not showing up in the mains of body, but I believe it's been implemented this way because that's, you know, how the architecture of Hive is set up, basically. It's going to easoncy.com. and once again, it's going to go and go into profile, and field recordings appears there, but I also wanted to check something else as well in the moment, and yeah, very similar thing, although here, the waveform doesn't appear, but the final's work, and what I'm particularly excited about, it's fact we have these audio, gadgets here, these audio widgets appearing, where you'd see a waveform and a play button, got the ability to set the playback speed to two times if you wanted to, and the descriptions for each of the files appears. I'm not so sure about the big sort of blank space, I'm honest. That is where the cover image would appear, or maybe it would appear above the player. the player underneath it and then of course it could have probably longer descriptions for each one of these if you wanted to so this is really opening up some ideas in my head for how this could be used with the sort of stuff that i do for example and maybe other people would find uses for this in other ways as well um so on terms to go back and edit this post now and give it something a bit more descriptive, but what I wanted to check was, let's if I go back the stage. Remember, Psychlogs was either a post, or was it a playlist, I think, if I go in here, I'm suspecting, I would see, yeah, my original post, that came with that post, so yeah, that makes sense. I then, of course, now you've got a conversation about it. I do wonder, though, if you got... comments to the post appearing that it's nudging down the content that's associated with the post. So we have a lot of big conversation going on here that Steve and I have been having and other people were talking about this as well, then these comments would be nudged further down the page and sort of lose the context of what this post is about. I don't know, it's, I guess their limitations aren't there? The way how this engineer is in the first place and how it all fits in. But if you go back to these pages, you can see that the content shows up here in a great way. And I'm really excited for this platform, how it's evolving Mino and Chip Fox. and other developers are working on the projects, now we're doing a phenomenal job, and it's very, very exciting. So that is just my little bit of a run through of how the album playlist stuff works for audio files. But let's say you wanted to create a podcast. Let's have a quick look at how that works, because As I say, I may delete these posts in a moment because they are not very well put together and written much of a description or articles to go with them. But let's say we wanted to create a podcast, you know, just pick a file at random, to be honest, like, let's see. I've got, sorry about this, it's fine, something like recording MP3, wherever that is, I've no idea, I cannot remember, one of these received from something, that's normally something I do in AOM on the iPad, so I'm going to drag and drop that in, and you then got the one file, and I want to make it a standalone post, and tap on next. and it's going to have no playlist this time, it's going to be its own thing. And so you want to make this podcast episode, so you can call it podcast episode episode, critical 45, sort of just random, random thing. And I want to post this in music technology. and I'm actually going to put together some podcast material for the music technology community at some point today or in a week ahead. I'm going to give it the tag of music, and the description is going to be we talk about the latest in music tech, for example. and I'm not going to get the cover image, but here, you have the types that you can assign to it, and by default, podcast is set. But it could also be a voice or snap, which is no, to say, said with snappy, the short form posts, it could be a piece of music on its own and not part of an album. In this case, it's going to be a podcast. We're going to leave the beneficiaries, rewards, distribution beneficiaries as they are. We can tap on next. I'm going to tap on publish. And I will delete this post once I want to see how it looks. And the upload is taking place in the background. It's done. So if we take a look at... Peak D, for example. You expect to see that we've got, oh, and do, do it appears yet, or if it's still processing in the background. Podcast episode 345, there you go, some type of photos of my, my previous post already, which is a sort of demonstration. and then I can play this and see what it was actually. I think that's really really cool because we're now able to do stuff that I've been wishing for for ages. If I go into... Back to Easoncy. got a field record, this is there, just hit refresh, and podcast episode 345, yeah, it's all functioning, which is great. I'm going to go back to, as that's not a proper podcast, I'm honestly, I hope I can get rid of it. People will shout at me for publishing too many things at once. So, anyway, don't worry about it. It's something for me to sort out after recording this. So, there you go. That is a little bit of the guides to how some of this stuff works. And I'm going to leave that about, and we shall... Cash up another time. Thank you for watching. Bye for now.
