I've done everything you asked. Not yet. When the UN building vanishes, then you will have done everything I asked. What do you suppose they will, they will call the crater, huh? The Dreyfus Ditch! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. There should be no crater. No crater? But I want a crater. I want wreckage, twisted metal, something the world will not forget. They will not forget today. They won't? Wonderful. I have to tinkle again. Don't do anything till I get back. Too late. The countdown started. One minute. Thank you. 30 seconds. Seven, six! Seven! Six! Two powerful beams of light cut through the darkness over Manhattan Thursday, as the 9-11 Memorial and Museum conducted a test of its annual tribute in light. 88 large spotlights arranged in the shape of the Twin Towers illuminated from the roof of the battery parking garage just blocks from ground zero. It's a rehearsal for the heartfelt display that will shine bright next Wednesday, marking 23 years since that solemn day in 2001. One by one, each switch was flipped, sending beams of light piercing into the night sky. The glow of beams offering a somber yet striking tribute that has become a traditional for New Yorkers. Since its first appearance six months after the 9-11 attacks, the lights have served as a symbol of remembrance of the nearly 3 ,000 lives lost in the tragedy and those who have died since due to related illnesses. The beams so powerful they can be seen from up to 60 miles away under clear skies. The installation is made possible by Con Edison. Helping people who never were here for 9 -11, understand and remember not only what we've lost on 9-11, but how we came together as a city, as a community, as a country to respond and rebuild afterwards.
