I'm taking a weird little detour. I don't know if I'm going to call it a detour, but I'm working on something else, and something that I hope is going to be kind of simple, and I'm making it more complex as the days go, because I suffer from that. I suffer from scope creep. But one of the things that have been happening, and this is pretty much commonplace at this point, in the world of software development and people looking for jobs and what I've noticed, that people are getting hacked. It actually happened to a friend of mine. He got hacked, too. because he was just jumping on a call with some people that were interested in his project. So I'm building an app that is going to be a canary in the coal mine kind of thing, that is kind of the idea, so that if you are participating on any of you a conversation, a call, or maybe you're working on an assessment because you're trying to get a job, you're a developer, and whatnot, this would alert you. if something that's going on with your computer. If somebody's parsing through files, if somebody, I don't know, it's reading secrets from the repos and that kind of stuff. And it would halt that operation and inform you that you need to disconnect and whatnot. I think it's a pretty cool little project. I hope to be done the next couple of days. I'm going to open source it because otherwise it wouldn't make any sense. And it's going to be launched through a label of a friend of mine and his company. because it makes sense that it would, that it would. He's a recruiting firm, so it makes sense. Anyways, I wanted to share this with you guys. I wanted to put it on a vlog of mine. I know I haven't made any posts for a few days, but I've been busy, I've been working, and I think that's what matters.

@epodcaster: Oh dear. I hadn't even thought about someone being able to access my computer from being on a video call with them. Do you know if they were on a Zoom or Google Meet? Or was it some third party service? Either way I think your app idea is a good one.

@eddiespino: I remember that one time someone tried to hack me. They wanted me to download an app to communicate with them. When I saw it was an .exe, I realized that their intentions were not good. replied to 1:43 on 3speak.tv

@chinito: Sounds good. Very useful thing.

@forkyishere: YES YESSS!!! All apps now need to fricking have validation protections and inspections, because we can't trust corporate materials. Cross supply chain attacks are going to be a mess in the foreseeable future... and I am afraid that people think the right direction is to avoid exposing the code. Which will only create even more pressure on them. Cause AI will be able to reverse engineer everything eventually, so there is no point in hiding it.

@nicklewis: These are the kind of tools we need the most!

@ahmadmanga: It's disheartening how clever hackers are becoming, especially with AI, they're more capable of finding holes to exploit than ever... replied to 0:16 on 3speak.tv
