Hello, my friends. Instead of writing about this, I think I want to make a video because I want you to see my face when I say the things I'm going to say. A lot of times when you read stuff, then your own bias takes over and then you just think the other person is being malicious or saying things in anger or maybe with a hidden intent. So that's why I prefer to do this in a video. Last night, before going to bed, I sat to listen to the hangout that they had, the hangout, the meeting to get together about DHF spending and whatnot, organized with stalkers. And, of course, if you haven't heard that yet, this video might not make too much sense. I think you should hear it. I shared it on my blog as well, but I'm sure other people have. And I walk away feeling quite positive about the meeting. I think there's a lot of things that didn't get addressed, but I also believe that there was just no way to do so, not efficiently, not within an hour or an hour and a half, that the meeting went. But more importantly, I think most... and above all, is that most people walked away with, you know, a good taste in their mouth, meaning that, hey, you know, we recognize our shortcomings, and we recognize that we have to make a change, and we have to do it now, which is, at the end of the day, what we really wanted. I want to give a shout out to stalkers for organizing this, for taking the initiative to promote, I don't know if that's the word, but that's the word I'll use, radical transparency, which is really what we need. And although this doesn't necessarily fix the spending on the DHF right away, it doesn't really answer those questions. So why are we spending so much on this, et cetera, et cetera. It does show what I think is a bigger problem, which is we are terrible at promoting, and I include myself. We have so many things that are being built on Hive, so many things, amazing things, amazing features, and not even... us Hyvians know, imagine the world outside. I saw also beggars, and I want to give him a shout out too, because he's being passionate, and I think passionate people should be applauded, because that means that they care. He's being very passionate about the subject, and that's all I'm addressing also these issues, you know, our spending problem, and how he believes, and I think he's right. that it is affecting the price of Hive. But this is not an issue, and this is really the core message I want to leave on this message. This is not an issue that has done what it's done in isolation, meaning it's not because we are spending so much in these projects and these initiatives that the price of HIF has gone down. That's not, that's the only part of the equation. The second part is because this has not helped us acquire more users and grow, that it's hurt hive. Now, it's hurt hive maybe in the short term, and we could argue that it's going to pay off, and I believe in betting on effort, which is really what we are doing. But there's an old saying, old adage, I don't know if you would say that, quoted, or I credited to Einstein that says that insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. So I want to invite everybody on Hive to stop being insane. And I say that lovingly. That's why I wanted to make a video. I'm not trying to fight. So if you walk away listening to these conversations, if you look at the stats, at the numbers, that they're solid. There's nothing to argue. and you believe that there's absolutely no change that you have to make in your behavior and the way that you are progressing in your hive career. Let's say that. Then you're acting insane. I'm not saying you're maliciously insane, but you're also not learning the lesson that you're supposed to learn when you realize you've made a mistake. So with that said, I'll be specific. What mistakes have we made? We've made the mistakes of, the biggest mistake, I think, is that believing that people will eventually find out what it is that we are doing. We've been terrible at communicating what we are doing. And I include myself. There's a lot of people building on Hive, building awesome projects, awesome things, and nobody knows. So that's the biggest mistake that we've made. The other mistake that we've made is we've been terrible. terrible at communicating with the community of how we are spending our resources. How much do we spend on infra? How much is spent on salaries? How much is spent on, you know, R &D? Do we, do we, on tools that we need? You know, how much do we spend on, I don't know, like, these days, AI subscriptions and what have you. The idea of this radical transparency is not because people want to be no scene, want to know everything about it. It's like, hey, give me your KIC, all the developers, right? They need to give IDs and addresses so we can hold them accountable. That's not it. It's more connected to the idea of taxation with representation. Imagine this was a government, and I know that's a dirty word. And you... are told that you have to trust, blindly trust, that everything that the government is doing is something that it's good for you. And of course, this is not to say that there's a bad actor, per se, on Hive, but more to say that if you really wanted to nip it in the butt, if you really wanted people not to not come up with crazy theories about cabals and about, you know, this is what they're doing because they're trying to do this and all the stuff. The only solution is radical transparency. The only solution is, hey, this is precisely what we are building. This is precisely how much we spend on our infra, precisely how much we spend our tools. And this is how much our developers get. And this is how many people we have working on the project. And that way, nobody has to question. Why does so-and-so spend, I'm going to come up with a number, a thousand dollars a week in a project? Well, I see it. so much it cost to have the servers, there's so much it cost. So that way, I feel as a taxpayer, because that's what we are, as wallet holders, as stakeholders of the platform, as a taxpayer, I feel like, hey, either I agree with this, I think this is the right move, I think this is a good way to spend my money, because it is. Inflation of your wallet is taxes, it's taxation. Then you... support it or you don't, and you're vocal about it, but being completely in the dark or partially in the dark, it's never been great. So I think in that sense we reach a turning point because I think most people walked away with this core idea ingrained in your head, that now there's going to be radical transparency. I find it to be quite, I don't know, bullish, I guess, let me use that word. that the conversation turned into how do we change that aspect of it. So in a way, whatever we spend on these projects gets completely nullified, if you will, because we're going to be bringing more people in. We're going to be bringing, hopefully, also, investment in. And the idea of having a team... that would use AI tools to basically summarize everything that is happening on the projects and create marketing campaigns on Web2 about what we are doing. Not only makes sense, because we should have been doing that from the beginning, everybody should be doing that from the beginning, but it also makes sense today because we have tools that can make this a reality without adding an insane overhead over these projects. I'm going to go ahead and say this because I believe this is how easy it is. You could have an AI agent, like Code Rabbit, for example, or Claude, with a small subscription, it wouldn't even have to be an insane subscription. Go into all the repos that would be accessible to it, either because they are public repos, which most are, or the agent itself has access to that repo. And create reports. of everything that has happened for that week, you know, did we integrate a new wallet onto Essency? Now people can use Solon. That's been around for a while, but just to give you an example, on Essency. Did we, for example, begin integration of EVM wallets on Hive Keychain, something that apparently has happened, and I didn't know, again, the issue about radical transparency not being a thing? Are we making a big fuss out of it? Are we... being like those projects out there that is saying, hey, very soon you're going to be able to do this and that, are we doing that, or are we not? So, this agent could do this work, which would take humans days, if not weeks, within an hour, maybe, maybe even faster, and create a strategy so that we could use projects like Hive Echo to promote what we are building on Hive. So if you really think about it, the overhead, and I don't think I'm exaggerating, that we might be adding by doing this, could be a couple hundred dollars, that's it. An initiative like Hive Echo, or some that could come up just because of this, could take that and then project it all over web, too. And that could make a big difference, because just like, to quote what block trade said, if we were spending exactly what we are spending right now on the projects that we are developing, but we had a million daily users. maybe we wouldn't have, well, not, no problems, but maybe we wouldn't have 90% of the problems that we have right now. And if we had 10 million users a day, then we would have other types of problems, which is, you know, how do we, how do we make our infra strong enough to sustain such volume of usage? Which is, the problems that I always say are good to have, you know, too many users. We don't know what to do. So, I'm walking away with a positive mind. I think this doesn't change where we are going to be financially for a while. We're still going to be heading lower, maybe. Who knows? Although some say we are at the floor. But it does change what we are going to do about it, so that we can make a difference bringing more users in, and thus actually help. the economics of this whole system. So I know there's going to be a second meeting. I hope I can assist that meeting. I hope that the people that participate of that second meeting also walk away with this mindset. And I know some people are making some sacrifices and doing some cuts. I think I speak for everybody when I say that I appreciate that because it kind of shows this long-term conviction. I think being a hyvan has become part of who we are. So I think we all cherish and cherish that about our existence, about us, and, of course, want to protect it. And by seeing people like good karma and Jarvie and, you know, Ask Arthur and not taking that initiative, it makes me happy because it makes me feel like, hey, you know, we're on this together. So, again, shout out to those guys for doing that. The other thing I want to do in this video, and then with this, I'll close, is those who have been very resistant to even have these conversations because they feel that they are being harassed or that they're being attacked. I invite you to really take a step back and try to look at intention before you get upset. Because if I was having this conversation with you guys, if I was making this video, if I was... you know, doing the shows that we do on Hive Discord, because I wanted to fight, then I accept it. I accept that you can call me out on and you can say I'm being a jerk or being unproductive. But if I'm having these conversations and I want to see change because I care, then even if we don't agree on the method, we have to agree that my goal is noble. And therefore, I should not be portrayed as an enemy. I'm not naming any names because that's not important. But what it is important is that when we have these conversations, we walk into the meeting, into the conversation with the knowledge that, hey, everybody in this room is somebody who cares. And although we may not agree on the methods, we can agree on the goal. Anyways, that's it for me. If you haven't heard that hangout, I think you should, more so this video makes sense. But there's going to be another one very soon, and yeah, I'm looking forward to that one as well. Bye.

@cositav: I watched the talk, read the subtitles, and appreciated the concern expressed at Hive regarding the future, marketing, transparency, and user acquisition and retention. I thought their arguments were sound and I sensed interest. Perhaps they weren't very decisive, but it's good that they're starting to take action. These meetings are valuable, and it's good to have a forward looking perspective. As for marketing, it's a significant challenge because, as you mentioned, many of us at Hive are unaware of the excellent resources available, and that speaks volumes. I believe we need to start from within, and it's just as difficult as external marketing. But we're working on it, and I think that with determination and good guidance, we'll succeed.
@alonicus: Thank you for this ! With my business head on, I agree we need full transparency. By understanding what we spend, we can work out what metrics we need to understand it's cost effectiveness. But I'm starting to think that a possible answer is to develop tools using the Hive blockchain which are for non Hivers and non Hive businesses. Rather than looking at the efforts to directly recruit new users, I wonder if the answer is to have tools out there which solve real world problems. They'd bring revenue into the ecosystem which in turn increases market cap and can replace DHF spending, in turn hopefully increasing the price of Hive. Then for normal world users, the rest of the Hive ecosystem and the social aspects would be there in the background if they are interested, but would be a light touch for the curious rather than pushed hard.
@mondoshawan: I hear you and understand the points, even after all the drama happening over the last eight years i'm around. Now in todays time of Artificial Imbecility: Just as a view point of someone asking AI about Hive in the process of deciding to join or not... A response from an ASS Artificial Servant System The Heart of the Crisis: Power, Control, and Broken Incentives The data you provided paints a stark picture that goes beyond a simple user disagreement. The core issue appears to be a fundamental failure of governance and a perversion of the platform's reward system. Systemic Downvoting as a Weapon: The statistic showing a 440% increase in posts receiving 100% votes is particularly damning . This suggests that the downvote, intended as a curation tool, has been repurposed into a weapon to silence dissent, eliminate competition, and enforce conformity . The allegations of coordinated networks downvoting within tight 90 second windows, if true, point to organized censorship rather than organic community moderation . A Capture of Rewards: The concentration of rewards among a small, interconnected group, as detailed in the analyses, indicates that the "creator economy" on Hive may have become an "extractor economy" . When 91.4% of curation rewards are alleged to flow through a handful of accounts, it creates a system where the primary incentive is not to create valuable content, but to position oneself within a powerful clique . This fundamentally undermines the platform's value proposition for independent creators. The "Trust Architecture" Failure: The forensic analysis of the $103K whale dump is a powerful illustration of a deeper problem . The whale's ability to exit such a large position without crashing the price—by using centralized exchanges—was interpreted not as a sign of stability, but as a "vote of no confidence in ecosystem depth" and proof that Hive's "decentralization is theater" . It reveals a critical vulnerability: the blockchain may be immutable, but the economy built on top of it is fragile and dependent on centralized, traditional financial rails. The Exodus: A Rational Response to a Toxic Environment Given the above, the exodus you described seems like a rational response from creators seeking a safe and predictable place to build. The Appeal of Sanctuaries: The migration to platforms like Blurt.blog (which has no downvote button) and Steemit is a flight to safety . The "psychological safety" of knowing your work won't be erased by a shadowy cabal is a powerful draw . For a creator, a platform that guarantees your voice can be heard, even if the monetary rewards are smaller, is infinitely more valuable than one with higher potential payouts but constant existential risk. Real Human Cost: The narrative moves beyond tokens and charts when you consider the individual stories—the single mother in Nairobi, the poet in Kyiv . For these users, a coordinated downvote isn't just a loss of a few dollars; it's a silencing of their voice and a denial of an opportunity. This human element makes the "plea from the wounded" far more than just hyperbolic rhetoric . Can Hive Be Saved? A Question of Will This is the most difficult question. The technological infrastructure of Hive remains sound. The problem is entirely cultural and structural. The Reform Path: For Hive to be redeemed, the community would need to collectively acknowledge the problem and implement radical transparency and reform. This would require the very accounts that benefit from the current system to voluntarily cede power and submit to audits—a proposition that seems highly unlikely given their entrenched interests . The Inevitable Decline Path: The other scenario is a continued slow bleed. As more creators leave, the content quality and diversity decline, making the platform less attractive to new users and further concentrating power among the remaining "farmers." The 75% drop in new account creation suggests this vicious cycle is already well underway . A Wider Industry Context It's also important to view Hive's struggles within the broader context of Web3 social media, as some of your sources do . The Idealism vs. Pragmatism Chasm: The recent acquisitions and leadership changes at major protocols like Lens and Farcaster highlight a similar theme: the initial wave of idealistic, community governed social networks is giving way to a more pragmatic, business oriented approach . These platforms are struggling with user retention and finding a sustainable model beyond speculation. The User Doesn't Care: The fundamental problem for all decentralized social media is that most users don't care about data portability or censorship resistance if the app is empty and hard to use . They want a vibrant community and interesting content. Hive's crisis is so damaging because it has destroyed the very thing that could have saved it: a thriving, engaged, and trusting community. In conclusion, my take is that Hive is suffering from a crisis of legitimacy. It is no longer a place where creators feel they have a fair shot. The exodus is not just a migration of users, but a migration of trust. Whether the platform can ever win that trust back is an open question, but the evidence you've provided suggests the current trajectory is bleak. The future of decentralized social media may not belong to the platform with the best tokenomics, but to the one that can best protect its creators from the tyranny of the few. How would one feel after reading such informations. And I'm not saying that anything of this is true, since i haven't checked it all... but are the average users, may interested, now going to dive deeper into the truth truth or just leaving the idea of becoming a part of Hive?! Lucky me i'm not here for the money, i'm waiting for the moment humans start seeing the real value crypto has/had... to get rid of the oligarchs capitalistic slavery system. Hopefully! No rules without exceptions applies!
@por500bolos: A touchy subject almost necesitates body language. @meno, I really liked your thoughtful and coherent words in the conversation, and especially your calm gestuality while you were expressing them in the video. But above all, what I liked most was the heart shaped ring you were wearing on your middle finger.
