Mantequilla-Soft – Weekly Progress Report #10 by @mantequilla-soft on 3Speak
▶️ Watch on 3Speak --- Welcome to another Mantequilla-Soft Weekly Report! This week, we are excited to announce the launch of a brand new app: Hive Hangouts (temporary name). Think of it like Twitt...

Okay, so this is going to be the Mantequia Hangout for March 30th. And as you guys can see on my screen, the thing looks very, very different because we are not only going to talk about what I've been working on for the last week, but also we're going to be using it. And of course, Eddie is going to share something that he's been working on as well. I don't know how long this chat's going to be. less than an hour, which is fine. But what I would really love with today's hangout, or I guess my goal here is I would love for people to join. That will be amazing. And that way we can start having these with an audience, which would be, in my opinion, a lot more valuable. That way people can ask questions, you know, can be like, hey, you know, what about this, or can you explain that better and all this stuff? I think that would be amazing. But given that this is the first one, and most people don't know that we have hangouts now, It's just going to be me and Eddie, so you're going to see there two of us on the screen. How are you doing Eddie today? I'm doing fine, I do. I just, I had a bit of a headache, but I'm okay now, and I just drank some coffee to get the day started. It started earlier today for me. Yeah, Eddie is just setting up his computer in a new place, so right now I think he's using Linux again. So there's any glitches in our new set security. Yeah, because for some reason, the microphone was not working on my Mac, but it might be the browser or something else, but I didn't have time to troubleshoot today before the meeting. Speaking of Macs, you know, I know we're going on a tangent, that's fine, we can talk about this for a second. I don't know if you saw, but Apple just released this inexpensive laptops. Yeah, I saw, I haven't researched a lot about it, but I saw that they noticed that now, or they are doing like a different strategy to make their laptops more affordable, and that way more people can start using Mac, even though. I don't know about the capabilities, I think it's lower than... than MacBook Air. But it's really not that expensive compared to other computers, but other computers might have better specs for the same price. One of the reasons why I think it's actually a very, and I'm not saying I'm super happy about it because I have, I'm of two minds. On the one side, I think competition is healthy, and I don't want to see PCs getting killed. But on the other side, on the other side, I am not, I'm not going to lie, this, the integration that Apple has made for, for this particular laptop is quite impressive. Because you have, it's basically, you, would they build as basically a phone with a laptop shape, but it's a really hard phone. So if, if. I've seen some videos of them taking it apart and looking at the motherboard and stuff, and it's really a phone. That's what it is. The motherboard itself is basically the phone. Now, that said, Apple, and I hate to admit it, has a system that works well. All their software works well. You know, you don't have crazy viruses. You don't have... And so the overall integration, top to bottom, is well done. So it makes it to where... you really have two choices now, and one of them doesn't make that much sense. You spend $600 on a laptop by, you know, Dell or Lenovo, what have you, that maybe in two years might be useless. If you're a Windows user, by the way. If you're a Linux user, then you can get 10 years out of a laptop easily. Or you buy yourself a Mac for the same price that will be... repairable, which is surprising, and possibly useful for a decade as well. So, I mean, I think Apple is going to eat everybody's lunch, unless, you know, the Dell and all these other companies, Lenovo, HP, unless they get their act together and they start doing better. Because the quality of the laptops of that price range also, the $600, $600. It's not great, you know, it's plastic casing, it's just, you know, and the Mac one is aluminum, so it kind of makes you go like, yeah, you guys need to step it up. Yeah, and for, maybe for office use, it's very, more than fine. Maybe you will be like, well, I want to, you know, I want to do open plot on it, I want to, you know, I'm going to beat the crap, but maybe that's not good for that, but if it's like a student or office use, as you said, it's more than adequate. And then me be who I am, I would possibly install Linux on it as well, maybe have a dual boot or something. But I'm not saying I'm going to buy a Mac. Don't have the money. And also, I'm not trying to feed the beast. Yeah, I'm trying to feed the beast. But I have to be honest, though. I'm quite impressed. Yeah, I saw a meme that they say that, If you feel bad, remember that Microsoft, once, when they launched the Windows phone, they made a funeral for the iPhones. Oh, wow. They made, like, a parade, and they were, like, carrying, like, a big iPhone and, like, pretending it was a casket, it was, like, a funeral. Is the Windows phone completely dead? It is, right? Yeah, for years. For years, it has been dead. For years. I haven't seen one forever, yeah. I mean, you never know, right, with these things, like, yesterday we were having conversation with Matt and stuff. It was like, you never know when you release a new product. You know, you can invest an insane amount of resources and time, you know, and I mean resources in all different ways, you know, and I guess time is a resource as well. And that doesn't guarantee that the product is worth something. And that's a horrible thing to say, because... You could sit here and say, I put 100K into development of a Linux operating system based on Hive, let's say that, because you and I have discussed that. Let's say we do it. Yeah, yeah. And it comes already prepackaged with all these apps that run on Hive, you know, snappy I.O, but maybe built with Electron, so it's like a desktop application, and maybe wallets already built in, and it comes with an account. But you do all that, and you spend... 35K, you know, working on it, you get developers and stuff. It doesn't mean anything. It doesn't mean the project is worth something if nobody uses it. And it's a sad reality and it's a disconnect that a lot of people have because we think, and I include myself, our bias is, well, if I put so much effort into it, then it has to be valuable. And that's not necessarily the case. That's how life works. So, and I say this as somebody who has put a lot of effort into it too high for the past year, and I hope that I am going to hit at least a couple of targets, you know, who knows, you know? I think with Montaquilla, we're, in my, I'm biased, so are you. We are thinking, hey, we built some amazingly valuable things, but it's the market who determines if we are correct or not. So, yeah, we will see. On that subject, I'm going to go ahead and explain, because I'm recording my screen, so I'm going to be showing stuff that maybe you won't be able to see Eddie, but... Oh, do you want to begin with yours, what you've been doing? Yeah, so this week started a little bit slow, but we had a meeting, I don't know, we talked about this already in the past. I think we talked about it a bit, but we had a meeting with Tifox and one of his curators for one of his projects to know that TIFO has the YU hub, which is a Doing Yourself community. And he has someone from Nigeria called Stevenson 7, and he has been... working with Defox for several years in the curations side of things. So we are using many of the things that have been already being built by the DIYHub. They have like a cool, very cool curation bot that you can use through Discord. So we had a meeting to talk about the curation, but to do it through, to do it on 3Speak. You know that on Trispeak, you have the creation that is kind of semi-automatic. Yeah. Have some kind of filter that can filter the videos if they're going to get voted or not. But depending on the views and the comments, they get curated. So we want to do it. two things, more decentralized, that it doesn't only depend on one curator, that has been me for some time, but we also can curate manually. And now that many videos are not getting any comments sometimes or a few comments, even if they're very good videos, they get ignored by the bot because the bot needs at least, I don't know if three or five comments, at least. So many videos are getting ignored. So we're going to... This logic is from the legacy days, or this is... Yeah, this has been the list for... For some time. It needs views and comments, but it can have 100 views, but zero comments, it gets ignored. So we're going to do it more manually and have, like, a team of curator. So that's part of the meeting that we had. to determine some of the curation criteria and testing the bot. And because this is also under the Mantequita soft umbrella, we, well, I created an account called Mante Curated. I'll write it. Mante curated. This is the brand new account. Oh, yeah, you wrote it faster. But that account is going to be the one that is connected to the bot. And that account is going to also import something important is that the curators must leave a comment. And the comment will show who was the curator. So in this week, we have been testing it now with the real account. I gave the T-Fox the posting key of the account. And now he has added it. We were doing that. I'm still curating the bot is still voting, right? And we're going to transition. I think we're going to transition little by little. We're not going to do a full transition. And also because of the price and because there are not a lot of videos, sometimes the voting power is pretty high. So I... We've had a big drop in videos. I was going to talk to you about it, too. We were averaging 500 plus. at some point in time, and what are we down to right now? Let me check on the monitor. This is, of course, normal videos, not counting shorts. Yeah. Only counting, like, normal, normal videos. And I think it's not counting the embed videos that we also implemented. Now, in the last seven days, we have 234 videos in the last, normal videos. Yeah. In the last seven days. By the way, I have to do the report after this meeting, I want to do the coding report. Yeah, we have to, we also should, and I say we, but it is something I have on my to-do list, I've had it, make statistics for the shorts and embed videos, because if we are going to be transitioning, and that's a plan, right, towards that system, then, you know, we are... going to misreport, I guess, we're going to be like, oh, yeah, yeah, our videos are down 100 videos this week, but maybe the embedded videos is up the 100 that we're down on the other side, so. Yeah. At some point, we have more shorts than normal videos, because it's faster it is. Yeah, I think that's expected. I'm actually quite happy, I don't know if we talked about this last week. Did we talk about it last week? I'm not sure. But I contributed to SNC's base code to integrate videos a few weeks ago, which is how I found out about Code Rabbit, because Code Rabbit was kicking my butt when I was doing that PR. And I'll talk about that in a second, too, because it's something that we added to Montakea. And then... Good Karma actually merged it not that long ago, and now they just released some updates for Essency, and now they're included. So if you are at SNC.com, or I'm sure the app, I haven't tried it, but I'm sure the mobile app is already live with the new system. And I think I'm sure because they're pretty organized over there in Essency. you're not using legacy stuff anymore. So you're basically doing embed videos, and it's going through a different encoding system. So if people go to monitor that 3Speak .tv, and you're trying to see if your video from SNC is there, you're not going to see it. You have to go to direct... There's a... On the monitor we have the direct encoding, but I think it might have to be updated. Yeah, no, but it would show in direct encoding. In the case of Gateway Monitor, the one that I built, the one that's not so pretty, it already has, which is obviously something you can integrate really easily to the Pretty Monitor. It has already, like, progress tracking, so you can see... Ah, yeah, yeah, yeah. and it also will tell you if it's a short or it's not a short because the whole point of embed videos is really it replaces everything so you can do a short or not a short you can do a long form video from Essency yeah and so this is already live and one of the really cool possibilities of this is that technically speaking technically you could build a video -based front-end and bootstrapping 3-speak, you know, meaning I could say, oh, I want to build my own video platform for shorts. I have an idea. Yeah, yeah. And I want to do it like this, and we're going to, you could get an API from us, you know, obviously this will be built on Hive, or not, and then we discuss opinion system if it's not. And you could definitely do it, piggybacking on our infra, because it's loosely coupled. I think that's pretty amazing. That's something really, really cool that we've been able to pull off because of the new infrastructure. So it's being loosely coupled allows it to connect to technically any platform, any blockchain, anything, doesn't matter. As long as there's a way for you to insert an eye frame somewhere, you can have three speak videos show up in. show up in your page, which is pretty awesome. So, that said, I think one of the things that is still in the list and the pending regarding those, the embed video collection is us working out, which we haven't done yet, the tiers for the stuff. And although we do have tiered encoders, I think I told you that. We have tiered quarters. We don't have tiered users as of yet. Like, everybody is the same. You asked me the other day when I was showing this stuff, like, what happens, I give myself premium? Well, currently, you wouldn't really see a difference because everybody... I did it in my test account. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Well, that means that if, what will happen if a user is pregnant, is that those videos, when that... when that user uploads will always be encoded by our super encoders. They will never go to a community encoder. That's what the main thing. But the other thing that we haven't done, that we would have to implement, would be that if you are a premium user, then the front end that you're using to post should not add beneficiaries. So that part is not done. tip-funk sent to me, and so it's part of the to-do list, I don't know, buys a flag in our back end, you know, so there's a, you know, that puts you in the VIP, the premium tier, or out of it, so it does it automatically if the payment is detected, which would be ideal, because I, I'm pretty sure you don't want to be the one, oh, has this person paid, let me turn, no, so let me remove premium service. Yeah, yeah, we want it automated, but, but yeah. So, yeah, something else that I did related to this Manticureated account is that I, just also to test the Hive master skill that we built for Mantequitasoft, that is one of the repos, I created a small dashboard that right now is very simple, but it can be... updated and it can be improved. It could even, I was thinking that it could even help people make curation reports for their accounts. So I created, it's called Mantecureated Live. So it's a live dashboard that if an account votes, any posts, people can check it, and it's, if you go to Manticureted.3Speak .tvy.b. Put it on the chat so people can read it easily. Rated.risp.tv. Yes, just, let me, let me paste it here also like this. But the link won't work, right? It's the same. So, so you can check the voting power of the account, how much high power does it have? How much total high power, the incoming delegations, the outgoing delegations. It was showing the reputation, the high balance, the HPD balance, but I think that is not important for creation. And that, but right now it shows the only the voting power, the high power, the top authors that have been voted the most, and the recent votes. So that's, I can also put the top authors, depending on the weight, I mean, the weight of the votes, so you can see which accounts have been voted the most. Yeah. But I started this yesterday. It consumed, like, because I only have the cloud, the $20 version. it consumed the tokens very fast. But if you go to, if you go to recent votes, you can now open the, the post or the comments that have been voted on PigD. And it shows you at what time it has, it was voted, the percentage, the value of the vote. And it was a challenge because I think we could add that to the, to the skill, how to calculate the boat weight, because it was like way off. I tried to do it with cloud, and then clouds just like very high calculation. It was giving a boat value that was very, very high. But what I did is that, check it, what I did is that I gave it my boat, you remember my calculator, my boat calculator, that is pretty accurate. It's not exactly because it takes, it depends on, you know, that their feed price kind of, updates after 3.5 days, but it's very accurate. And so what I did is I told Cloud, hey, you're not calculating it, right? Check it how I do it here. I don't know if that's correct. Check it how I do. And I just gave Cloud the repo of the calculator. and cloud was, oh, okay, I will update it and cloud updated the boat, the vote value. So I think that was kind of a crazy or, I don't know if it was the best way. Yeah, does your vote calculator take into account the fork, did it change in any way? Did you, or didn't take into account? It's, It's because in the boat calculator I didn't add the thing of the voting power, it calculates, like, if, like, full boat, yeah. Oh, okay. So, also, the, actually, the mantecurated dashboard was calculating the voting power on the, on the account. So it was showing, like, the full boat, and the boat, depending on the voting power. But I told, no, just calculate the full boat weight and that. And that's what it is. Most definitely, you should add, you should make a pool request on the skills and add it because this is valuable. Let me, yeah, let me think about the best way to do it. And another thing that I also did, and I used another one, another of my projects, how to calculate the incoming delegations and the outgoing delegations. For that, I have the witness dashboard, I have that there too, that. So now, as I said, you can see the own, the high power that is on the account, the incumbent delegation, and the outgoing delegation, and the total high power. So if you go to this page that I shared, Mantecurated.rispeak.vig, you will, by default, you will see the Mancureated account. But you can... you can change it for any account, and so you go to Meno, and then you can see any account. So, if you go, for example, to, you can also directly go to Manticorated, sorry, Manticorated, Dotsrispin.tv.v.v.v.m.2.m .m.com.m. automatically pulls the manual account. Ah, automatically it pulls the manual account. And so that's something that I added, something that is not straightforward, and I have to manually add it, is that, for example, if you wrote, when you're writing on the cell phone, you know that most of the times, or I guess, it depends on the settings, the first letter of the username is uppercase. Yeah. Right? So if I wrote Meno. with overcase, it told me, oh, they got Meno with the M uppercase, it doesn't exist. So it was giving me that error, so I have to sanitize. Yeah, you have to sanitize it. Yeah. And now even if you wrote everything with capital errors, it works. Awesome, awesome. And also, it should be also very good on on mobile devices, that too. And also something that took me a lot of, some tries, is the links, the links, make the links clickable because they were not clickable and it took me like several iterations to make them, make…

@paultactico2: I think it's great that the dev team is adding tools that expand the range of ways we can communicate within the ecosystem. I certainly hope this new Open Source app hangouts is going to be a success. BTW, loved the 3speak implementation of the new embed upload video system for Ecency (❁´◡ ❁) Regards.
@chinito: nice. i like the simple, clean look of things and how it just works.
@mondoshawan: Hivehangout? Ah you mean Snapies Space... 😬😏 BTW i tried to join on keychain but it never got over the connection prompt...
