Foolishness [Podcast]

Well, it's been a while since I've done one of these, and I'm in the middle, pretty much the middle of my vacation. Staycation is what we're calling this, because I really have not done much other than stayed at home, done some lawn chores, hung out with the family. I haven't read as much as I'd like to, which is kind of inspiring me to do this blog post tonight. shake things up a bit. Get me, I still got, I still got a couple days left in the week that I need to fire things up when it comes to reading, but God really impressed it on my heart, let's say, to do one of these blog posts slash podcast slash little talks with you guys, so I hope it's of value to you, and you enjoy hanging out with me for the next couple of minutes. So, Let me, I just, I'm, what I wanted to talk to you guys about was this idea, um, that, like, uh, Christianity is, is, is like this, a religion as a whole. Like, I'm not even gonna, I won't even talk about Christianity specifically yet, but religion as a whole, the belief, the, the, the, theistic belief in a creator, uh, of the universe, of the world, of life, you know, This is sometimes, you know, for people in the world, let's say, it's a tough pill to swallow. And I'm thinking of 1 Corinthians chapter 2, speaking of verse 14, says, but the natural man does not receive the things of the spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, nor can he know them because they are spiritually discerned. Verse 15, but he who is spiritually, he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. So, I'm thinking of all these verses in the Bible where Paul, you know, even in the New Testament literally says, like, the world is going to think what you believe is foolish. The world is going to think your belief in the creator is insane. you know, the creation account, six literal days, new age, new age earth, all of this stuff is just insane. It's just, it doesn't make sense, scientifically, doesn't make sense at all. And then I think of these verses where Paul is literally saying that that's the way it's going to be. People of the world will think that you're foolish. that's just the way it's going to be. Let me prefer this. I was one of those people. For whatever reason, for better or worse, I did not grow up in the church. I basically grew up as secular as it comes, up until pretty much my 40th birthday, maybe a little bit before that. I was in the world. I was living for self, just, you know, completely infatuated with worldly things, and I never had an upbringing. And again, this is, I don't know if this is a blessing or not, because you see some people that grow up in the church, and they do great. They love the church, they love the Lord, they stay in it. But then there's a lot of people that rebel, let's say, and the church has done them wrong. God hasn't done them wrong. right? It's always people that seem to do others wrong. And for whatever, for reasons that only God and them would know, they depart the church. So some people get into this stuff from a very young age because their parents and their family, it's part of their upbringing, and others, like myself, come to this faith much later in life. I remember having talks with my agnostic and atheist friends about when I found faith. And something I always tried to stress to them is that, you know, I don't consider, listen, I don't consider myself the sharpest tool in the shed, but I don't think I'm the slowest one either. When I make decisions, I evaluate them, I look into things, I study things, I research things. not only faith-based, but life in general. Every cryptocurrency, for example, I've ever gotten into, I've studied, I've become a student of it. And so it's not just faith and religion. It's everything. So when I have these conversations with my agnostic and atheist friends, I try to explain to them. Listen, like, I'm not going into this blind. I did my research. I did my homework. And logically, I could not come to any other answer other than God is the creator of everything. And my duty as a created being is to worship that creator. And obviously, you know, this is theology and deep talk and... even, you know, just deep stuff, right? This is not something I can explain in a five-minute podcast here. But for me personally, not having, let's say, the baggage of being brought up in a church, it almost, it felt like I could see the foolishness in my ways and how the God was speaking to me, through the Bible and showing me his plan for humanity to be saved. And logically, it made sense. And I'm not saying that as someone who, you know, did not do their homework. I'm not just saying I'm a believer because my family was a bunch of believers. I'm not saying I'm a believer because... You know, I had this, this awful experience in life, and I had to turn to God, and I had to find answers. It wasn't like that. It was literally the Holy Spirit imparting on my heart that it was time to look into this. And the more I dug, you know, and the craziest thing about the Bible is when you see the historical aspects, that's really what pulled me in. the prophetic books of Daniel and Revelation, specifically Daniel 2, Daniel 7, Daniel 8, Daniel 9. I mean, these things, like, I'm sitting there reading this stuff, going through Wikipedia, and it's confirming everything that the Bible said, like, the nations in Daniel 2, in order. hundreds of years before they were even existed, before they even existed, and all of this stuff came true. To me, it was just like, okay, that's, that's crazy. That, who, you know, and then, you know, you're doing the math of, you know, the prophecies that Jesus fulfilled, like, it's something like, you know, crazy amount, crazy odds if, like, he fulfilled, like, five of them. Like, it's almost impossible. Meanwhile, he fulfilled. dozens and dozens and dozens. Like, it's a mathematical impossibility that Jesus would have come to the earth and died for our sins, but here we are. So, again, much bigger topic than just me, you know, spitting off the hip here. for a couple minutes, but it was something I wanted to talk to you guys about, because I think that a lot of times people might feel like, oh, well, you know, I didn't grow up in the church, and I'm too fallen, and I don't, you know, I can't, I don't know God, there's no personal relationship there, but you give him a chance. Book of Isaiah says, God says, come, let us reason together. God wants you to ask questions. He wants you to question stuff. Because when you do, when you really start digging, you really start uncovering the lies or the foolishness of the world, as it says in 1st Corinthians, God makes sense. It really does.
