Grab Yourself A Theology Degree (For Around 100 Bucks!)

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. It's been a while since I've done an audio version of these posts. And that's because I've been on the road, and it was a lot easier when you're on the road and you kind of have quiet time after you've parked for the night to reflect. Since I've been home, it's been go, go, go. As you can imagine, the kids are excited. My son, my youngest son had his birthday party like the day after I got back last week. So it's just been crazy. But I've been able to... to stay the course with my little reading plan that I kind of, I came up with. I mentioned it last week. I said it was kind of going back to school again. So I'll give you kind of a little background on it. I did write about it, but just kind of to fill you guys in audio-wise. This was actually a... a reading plan that was developed by a pastor that I follow named Carlton Knott. He runs a Wellington SDA in Florida. I don't know the town, but I've been watching this guy on YouTube for a while. He's just a really, really smart guy. really well versed, you know, just loves the Lord. But he's not a big popular, you know, he doesn't get 10,000 views on his sermons and stuff. It's a little small church, really passionate group of people, a great community. But he does these exhaustive studies on different topics in Scripture, and one of the ones he did was kind of like, the prepping for it was encouraging us to... Go get a theology degree, but not a theology degree in the way you may interpret it. Not going to school. He literally said, I will give you a few books and then develop your own study course. Every day of the week, read a book on different topics, and within a year, you've read countless books, and you've become, you know... I'm very well versed in a lot of topics. So I did this last year, and I went through it. It was, it was pretty good. I enjoyed it. Excuse me, as I'm having a sip of my drink here. My tasty hot beverage. So I figured I'd fire it up again. So this is the game plan. Sundays, I read a book about prophecy. And the one that I picked was by author Marvin Moore, who actually sadly passed away a couple of years ago. But he died in the Lord, so he will be in heaven, I am certain of it. And I've been a huge fan of his writings. He's written some of the best books I've ever read in the past couple of years. And this was one called The Delay. He published it 2011. So this is on Prophecy. So that's my Sunday reading. On Monday, Physiology. Because my church is big on the health message, and I decided to read a book by Dr. David DeRose called The Methuselah Factor. And this book goes over, you know, how to live a long and healthy life, following the guidelines, the biblical guidelines of health reform. So I thought that would be a great book to dive into on Mondays. Tuesdays is church history. And one of the founders of our church is named Joseph Bates, and he's a guy I wanted to read it, so I got his autobiography. I'm going to be diving in on that on Tuesdays. Wednesdays is Christology, the study of Jesus' life on earth and his ministry, and I decided to pick up a book called God Name Desire. by Ty Gibson, another really prominent author and theologian in my church, a really deep guy, and he does a lot of great stuff with light bears, which is his ministry. Thursday, we go over doctrines of the church, and I have a brand new book that just came out by John Peckham, called Think Biblically, and John Peckham wrote an amazing book called God With Us. It was just such a brilliant book. It was a big huge 600, 700-page book, but it read like a 200-page book. I got through that book in like a week. It was so good. I read that a couple of years ago, and then he just released this one thing, but biblically, so I picked that up for, to go over church doctrines. Friday is study of the sanctuary, and Clifford Goldstein is a really prominent author within our church as well. He's written 1844 made simple and so many... great books studying the life of Christ and the sanctuary message and graffiti in the Holy of Holies is the book I'm reading on Fridays. And then on Sabbath, it's focused on family. And I'm reading a book by Pastor Ophiel called, Lord, Keep Your Mansions, Just Save My Children, which is a personal story, testimony of sorts, but also how we can really build up the faith within our families. And I thought that would be a great book to go over on Sabbath. So Sunday, I got prophecy. Monday, I got... physiology, Tuesdays, I've got church history, Wednesdays, I've got Christology, Thursdays I've got doctrine, Fridays I've got sanctuary, and Sabbath, I've got studies on family. And this is just something I thought was a great idea, like actually having a structured reading plan. And yeah, it's seven books, and you're reading seven books all at the same time, but very similar to going to school. when you go to school and you're studying, you have four or five classes that you're doing all at once, and you're reading books in that, too. So, this to me, and these are not huge books. I mean, I think, which one, I guess the Joseph Bates book on church history is the largest. It might be 300 pages. The rest of them are 200 pages long, so I can get through these books, let's say. I bet you I could get through these without rushing and just taking my time, I could probably get through these within a month. That's my game plan. So to read a quarter of the book each week, get through all of them. So I'm excited. This has been, so far, I've done Friday, Sabbath, Sunday, and tomorrow I'm going to do Monday. So, yeah, it's great. I'm loving it. So I highly recommend this. If you want to get your degree in theology, do some self-education. I'm doing that along with journaling. Like I mentioned, I'm doing First and Second Corinthians. I'm going through that point by point, verse by verse, taking my time with those two books. Been writing it down. It's just been a blessing. I highly recommend this. Commit. Those minutes, those 1440 minutes you have every day, commit them to the Lord. Keep your mind on good things. Philippians 4-8. Just, if you're focused on that, you don't have any other time for the nonsense going on. You're focused on God. And that's really what I'm trying to do with this. Just... constantly be in his words, studying scripture, studying the church, studying doctrine, studying prophecy, studying physiology, studying the family life. And it's been such a blessing. So I hope you guys have a fantastic week. And I'm going to, enough of this, enough of this. I'm going to upload this and I'm going to get back to reading. See you guys.
