Good evening, good morning, good morning, good night, good afternoon, good day, welcome to another podcast. Still haven't nailed it down what I'm going to call these things, but there's the topics I love going over. I love going over the blockchain, so I'll talk about that on this podcast, everything going on on Hive and how I still have this. deep passion for it and the promise of the future of it. I'll also talk about books, because I love reading. So the books might be different topics, niches, genres, but we'll talk books, we'll talk blockchain, and of course, we'll talk Bibles, because, again, I am on my spiritual walk with Christ, and I think this is important. I'm not saying that... everyone's going to agree with me with these things, and that's the beauty, I think, of platforms like Hive, we can talk about this stuff, and we don't have to agree, but it's good to, it's a good platform for me to allow to put my stuff out there. I don't, I don't have any other social media platforms. As you guys know, if you read my blog last week, I kind of did a timeout on Twitter X. I just, I don't know, I just shut the app down, and it's been about two or three weeks now, and I feel great. So I don't have, and that was the only other social media presence, let's say, that I had, even though I got my little YouTube Bible review channel going, there's only 200 subscribers on it, but my social reach, my influence, let's say, is most definitely on this blockchain, so I'm appreciative of... the ability to spew my thoughts out here, and thank you guys for listening to me. So, tonight, the topic I wanted to discuss was, I'm reading this fascinating book. I'm going to do a review of it when I'm done. I'm probably about two-thirds of the way done, let's say, maybe half, halfway done. It's called Question Everything by... Fitzroy Anderson is the author's name, and he's a creator on YouTube who started self-publishing these books, and this thing is just this, this fantastic look into why he believes what he believes, and he does it systematically, he does it scientifically, he does it... philosophically, he does it, he uses so many different ways of coming to the conclusion that God is real and he's worthy to be praised. So I bought this book just, and he self-publishes it. It's not any big, massive publisher, but it's a big 500-page book, but it reads like a novel. Like, you just can't put this thing down. And I've just been, just all weekend, I've been just into this book and into this book, and into this book, and it got me thinking, you know, one of the topics he brings up is how we get what we believe when it comes to our faith. Hebrews 111 is one of my favorite verses, and it talks about how, you know, faith is what we're hoping for, even though we don't see it. That's the promises, the belief. We don't see all this stuff, but we believe it. And for people that aren't spiritually discerned, that can be a tough pill to chew, tough pill to swallow, not necessarily chew. There's so many different facets to this, but... What the point was he was saying that he gets his belief, his strength, and what he looks at his, for his worldview, is through Scripture. And he's a Protestant, I'm a Protestant. And Protestants have this... This saying, this saying of sorts that's been around for, oh, a few hundred years, and that's Sola Scriptura. And I know some of my Catholics, Catholic brothers and sisters, cringe when they hear that, because... they, while they believe the Bible, they also have traditions of man and church fathers and church history that back up what they believe. And this is, again, where I think Catholics and Protestants really, not necessarily bump heads, but come to an impasse. Like, they, they can't see this eye to eye because for Protestants and... I'm using little bunny ears when I say Protestants here because there's not much protesting that's going on these days, folks. So there's got to be a little asterisk besides Protestants these days. What they believe is that the Bible is where their faith is coming from. Their faith is from God, Holy Spirit, Bible, Bible alone, that's where we get our faith and our knowledge of God. from. That's how God talks to us through the scriptures. Catholics, again, while they believe that, they also have this little asterix of their own beside it that says, yeah, we believe the Bible, we also believe tradition, and we also believe church history, and the fathers of our church. Now, this is where I kind of, I respectfully... have to disagree because for me, if I can't go by the Bible and the Bible alone to me, it's just, it's kind of like, what are we even doing here? There's so much stuff that comes with faith through the scriptures. Let's, you know what? Maybe you don't, maybe you have a Bible with you, maybe you don't. But let's, let's have a look at what the Bible says about this. And I'm in, uh, Acts 5, chapter 29. And this is when Peter and the apostles are kind of being charged and harassed and bugged and arrested and persecuted by the religious powers of the day. And Peter plainly says, and I'm reading from the King James Version, verse 29, then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, we ought to obey God rather than men. Here is my first problem with having, now, actually, let me rewind. I have no problem with church history. I love church history. I have no problem with church fathers. They're pioneers, thought leaders, leaders of the faith. I mean, nothing wrong with it. My problem is when you put that above the Bible, put that about what God says. And here, Peter is saying that we need to put what God says before what men say, before what traditions say. Maybe you don't believe me. Maybe, you know, this is just, you know, me shooting off the hip, but let's, let's see, this is what Peter said. Peter said that, let's see what Paul says in Galatians. Galatians 1, verse 14, and profited in the Jews religion above many my equals, in my own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the tradition of my fathers. Remember Paul's story. Paul is the Pharisee of Pharisees. He's been trained as a Pharisee. He knows the law. He know he's an Israelite from the 12 tribes. Like, he is as hardcore as it gets, and he's saying here, this is what got him into trouble. Was that when he was holding on to the tradition of his fathers? Maybe we don't believe Paul. Maybe we don't believe Peter. Let's see what Jesus says about this. I mean, if we're not going to listen to what Jesus says, what are we even doing here? But this is, this is what Jesus says. And I want to read from the Book of Mark here, Chapter 7. And we'll go verse 6 and 7. So chapter 7, verse 6 and 7, and he answered and said unto them, well hath Isaiah prophesize of you hypocrites, as it is written. This people honoreth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Verse 7. How be it in vain, do they worship me, teaching for doctrines, the commandments of men? That's three witnesses. That's Peter, Paul, and Jesus, saying that we got to listen to God first, and we got to be really careful when it comes to the tradition, and what men say is doctrine. This is the biggest problem I have with different faiths. And I'm not speaking of different faiths as a whole. More denominations within Christendom. Specifically, ones that... are really, really, really hardcore holding on to traditions. They'll put traditions before men. They put traditions before what God says. This is where we get into trouble. This is where we start coming up with our own ways of thinking instead of what God says. So this is where pride and arrogance gets in the way of what says the scriptures. It is, how did Jesus defeat the devil? in the wilderness. If you go to the book of Matthew, chapter 4, it is written, it is written, it is written. Jesus went by what the Bible said. That's what he went by. What did God say, how did God say we should act? How did God say we should live our lives? Again, there's a place for church tradition. There's a place for church fathers. There's a, there's a place for all this stuff, but we've got to be really careful. We've got to be really, really, really careful that we don't put that ahead of what the Bible says. What does the Bible say? That's where I have to go to Hebrews 11, 11, verse 1. Because that's my faith. That's my faith is in the scriptures. My faith is in Christ. And if I go by that, I'm pretty confident in my faith. I'm pretty secure in my faith. I think when we start getting question marks in our faith and our walk with God is when we start reading memes on Facebook and Twitter. When we start listening to pastors rather than opening up the Bible and finding out for ourselves. While we, when we start listening to priests instead of what the Bible says, this is where we start questioning ourselves, we start getting confused. God's not the author of confusion. So, I don't know. Maybe I'm just crazy. Maybe I'm out to lunch here. But for me, for my walk with God, it's got to be Bible. It has to be. and I'm beating a dead horse here because I don't want you guys to say that I don't read the history books. I don't read, you know, extra biblical stuff. I do. I read all this stuff. I take it all in. I'm addicted to learning about my Lord and Savior, so all the information I can get, I'm soaking up. I just think we get into trouble when we put that ahead of what the Bible says. What do you guys think? I'd love to hear your thoughts, especially those of you guys struggling with your faith, if you even have faith, if you don't have faith. What do you guys think of this? Do you think we sometimes put tradition ahead of the Bible? And how do you, how, you know, especially different religious denominations within Christendom, how do you guys see this? I'd love to hear it. I'd love to hear, keep the dialogue going. I know the Christian community on Hive is not a huge one. But it's a passionate one. And the kingdom is growing. There's people creating content and putting it out there on the blockchain and putting it out inside the kingdom community. So I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Have a great night, and I will see you guys in the next blog post.

@videoaddiction: Yhis podcast encourages people to explore church history and the perspectives of the Church fathers.

@grandpapulse: Funny how our guardian angels work. I had my Twitter account suspended about two weeks ago. Best thing that ever happened. Your Bible comes from what the Roman Catholics decided your Bible would be, and you put your faith in it. LOL Of course, you only have 66 books and letters, whereas Roman Catholics have 73. The Roman Catholics have great documentation of the history and why each book was chosen, whereas Protestants do not have it documented. Paul was a great example to use In Galations 1 14 he is specifically talking about the "Jews' religion" and not speaking of Christian tradition. Sola scriptura literally ignores scripture when it does not support sola scriptura. Two verses in 2 Thessalonians in particular that speak of traditions are: 2 Thessalonians 2:15: "So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter." This directly supports oral apostolic tradition alongside written Scripture. 2 Thessalonians 3:6: "Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is living in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us." Jesus is literally talking about the Jews and not the church fathers. What does the Bible say? 1 Timothy 3:15 states, "...the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth" (KJV). Anti Catholic propoganda kept me away from the church founded by Jesus for all my life until I was 58 years old. A Priest studies here where I live for nine years before becoming a Deacon. Then they cannot become a Priest until the Bishop of their diocese ordains them, which maintains apostolic succession. Does the Catholic Church have problems? Absolutely, and has so since Jesus chose his apostles. Peter denied Jesus, Thomas doubted Jesus, Judas stole from the collection, etc. Do Protestant churches have problems? Absolutely. replied to 12:33 on 3speak.tv
