Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to another episode of your favorite theological podcast, Bibles, books, and blockchain. It, hey, may not be your favorite one. It might be the only one you ever listen to, but I'm glad you're here. And we are continuing on the Bible journal slash Bible study of First and Second Corinthians, and we are on chapter... 12. And this one is a big chapter. This is a very, very popular chapter in theological circles within Christendom. And we'll dive into it tonight. So it's spiritual gifts. This is the big takeaway for me is, this is what I wrote down. The church is a body. It needs every part and every gift. And the highlighted verse that I had was verse 14. And this really... hammers at home, and this is 1 Corinthians 12, verse 14, for the body is not one member, but many. And then it goes on, this is what Paul says here, if the foot, this is verse 15, if the foot shall say, because I am not the hand, am I not of the body? It is therefore not of the body. Verse 16. And if the ear shall say, because I am not the eye, am I not of the body? It is therefore not of the body. Verse 17. If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would the smelling? So this is, this is the general idea for the first, you know, half of this chapter is talking about different spiritual gifts that make up the body of Christ. And this is a great... start to this chapter for me because it shows all the different gifts that the Lord blesses us with, and it's important that we all are good stewards of those gifts. And I just, I love the starting of this. I have a little note here. This is from one of my favorite authors, and the book is called Acts of the Apostles, page 317. and it's Ellen White who wrote this, and she made a little note about verses 12 to 26, and this is what she said here. Acts of the Apostles is the book, page 317. By a comparison of the church with the human body, Paul aptly illustrated the close and harmonious relationship that should exist among all members of the Church of Christ. And that just, again, hammers home. the point to me. And, and, you know, there's, there's so much, so much value in this. And, and for me, I'll share with you guys a story of kind of my journey here, which is specific to this chapter. I was baptized in 2016, so it's literally a decade since I've been a member of the church. And I'm telling you, you know, 10 years ago, I was in my late 30s, and I wish I knew what I knew now, because if I, I would have, I would have made some massive changes in my life and perhaps even gone to school, to seminary, to get a theology degree. Because, you know, I love teaching. I love talking about scripture. I don't know if I would be a pastor, per se. But if I had the time, I would have definitely loved to get into a theology degree, just because I just, I love scripture. I love God. I love learning more about... faith. It's just, it's a passion of mine. Fast forward a decade later, I'm in my late 40s now, and the idea of me going to school is far behind me, just because, you know, you get responsibilities, you get this age, you provide it for your family, you know, you don't have time to go to school on a full-time basis. So, Okay, well, what is this, what is this got to do with Chapter 12 here of 1st Corinthians? Well, it's spiritual gifts. It's maybe God did not want me to become a pastor. Maybe he did not want me to go to school and get a theology degree. But you know what he did want? He did want me to talk to you guys right now about Scripture. He wanted me to be in the position with my job where I can share the gospel. I can bring the gospel to dozens of communities all throughout Western Canada that don't have access to necessarily books, Bibles, theological stuff, you know, so that's where I'm needed for the body of Christ. I'm not the pastor, I'm not the leader, I'm not the... evangelists per se. I'm the guy who's talking to you guys on these podcasts and writing blog posts, and I'm also sharing the gospel by spreading the words, selling Bible, selling books, talking to people about Christ, meeting amazing people on the road. That's my spiritual gifts, and that's what I need to remind myself of and be a good steward of. So, I just, you know, we're all called to... the Great Commission in Matthew 28. We're all called to proclaim the name of Christ, and you can do that in your own unique way. It doesn't have to be going to school. It doesn't have to be selling books. It doesn't have to be even writing and talking on blockchains and social media about this stuff. But you know what? Maybe that one person, your one friend, is curious. Is curious about... the Bible and about your faith, we'll share it with them, do Bible studies with them. Like, we're all important in the body of Christ. It's not one or two people, it's all of us. So that's my big takeaway, a really powerful chapter. I mean, you know, there's many sermons. proclaimed about this chapter because it's just so powerful. So something to think about for you guys that are, you know, you might think, hey, I really want to do my part, I really want to spread the gospel, but maybe I don't feel comfortable, maybe I don't have the time, maybe I'm not supposed to do pastoral stuff or ministry stuff, but you know what? You can share a message with a friend. You can talk to people. You can talk to your family about it. There's always ways that God uses us. We just got to tap into it and keep going.
