Victory

Ladies and gentlemen, children of all ages, welcome to another unnamed podcast. That's what I'm going to call this. No, I don't. I'm not calling this. This is just basically where I talk about the Bible. I talk about books, and I talk about the blockchain in no specific order, and I try to keep it under 10 minutes for your listening pleasure or bearing with me. Let's say it. Thank you guys for tuning in again. We're continuing, excuse me, on the Bible journey is the hashtag I've been using it. We're looking at 1st Corinthians chapter 15, which is a big one. It is quite a sizable... chapter in scripture and I'm pretty sure it's one of the longest chapters, if I'm not mistaken, in 1st and 2nd Corinthians. 58 verses long, but it's jam-packed, and the topic is the resurrection of Jesus, as well as the resurrection and the glorification of our bodies, our heavenly bodies. that we get during the resurrection, which is fantastic stuff. We're going to go over some little bit of doctrine that I love pulling from this chapter specifically, but let me highlight the two verses that I have written down here, 53 and 55, 53 is for, this corruptible must put on in corruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. That's verse 53, and verse 55 is, oh, death, where is thy sting, O grave, where is thy victory? Those are my two, the highlighted verses of chapter 15 of 1 Corinthians that I wrote down. And this is my little blurb that, and, you know, this is why this is so powerful to me. This is, this is the blurb I wrote down about this. This answers so many questions on faith, especially towards the resurrection and of our new bodies. Huge stuff, huge, huge, huge, huge doctrines that I'm going to go over, stuff that I hold true, and just give you a couple of, you know, minutes of commentary on these verses again. sorry, this chapter, just a powerful chapter that talks about some big, big, big issues in Christendom, some stuff that we hold on to by faith, and some stuff that a lot of us are looking forward to. It truly is a blessed chapter. So let me just, I'm going to, if you can take your Bibles and go to... Well, just, we'll keep this in mind. We're going to keep 53 in mind for this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. This is going to deal with a doctrine that I hold true. This is what I believe. It's what my church believes. It's something that would make us what you would call unorthodox Christians. There's a lot of things we believe in. the big main stuff, you know, the salvational stuff, we're very similar with mainline Protestant churches. But there's something we hold, it's a doctrine that we call the state of the dead. And from the Bible, you'll see throughout the entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, you're going to see a recurring theme. And the recurring theme is people are sleeping when they're dead. That's what it's called, sleep. Think about it this way. Think of Lazarus. Lazarus, when he's dead in the grave, Jesus tells his disciples that he's sleeping, and his disciples are like, what do you mean? He's sleeping. Oh, well, we've got to go wake him up. And Jesus's like, no, Lazarus is dead. So death and sleep, everywhere through Psalms, you're going to see death sleep. It's tied at the hip together in Scripture. Now, Mainline churches believe that when you die, your soul goes to heaven. I don't personally believe that. I believe it's an unconscious sleep. The next conscious thought you have is with the return of Jesus, the second coming of Jesus. Biblically, I can go over this in a huge study, maybe I should, because it's a big thing that most people don't believe. Most people leave, you die, you go to heaven or hell. We don't believe that. And this is why, if you remember 53 talks about the incorruptible must put on, sorry, the corruptible must put on incorruption, the mortal must put on immortality. There's only one person who's immortal, and that's God. God is immortal. No one else is immortal. If we all are dying in pain and agony in hell forever, that means, makes other people immortal. That's against scripture. immortality is a gift that's given to believers, and we see this in 1 Corinthians, chapter 13, verse 55. But here, let's say, well, people say, well, your soul goes to God. Well, what is a soul? You've got to ask yourself, what is a soul? Go to Genesis 2. If you could get your Bible, go to Genesis 2, Chapter 7. And look what a soul is, according to the Bible. And it reads here, verse 7, and the Lord God for man. of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul. So we don't have souls, we are a soul. We don't have souls. We don't have these mystical little things inside of us that go to God and little here and there. No, it's we are a living soul. We don't have a soul. We are a living soul. It says it here. Genesis 2, verse 7. So this ties in to the gift that God gives us. In chapter 15 of 1 Corinthians, 53, where it says, this mortal must put on immortality. This mortal must put on immortality. That's the gift. Because 55, O death, where is thy sthing, O grave, where is thy victory? Death is conquered. Jesus has conquered it. Now, state of a dead is a big doctrine. I can't explain this in under 10 minutes. We could do Bible studies on it. If you have questions about it, please do... Put it in the comment section. I will definitely, first by verse, I can show you this, I can break it down. But, uh, biblically speaking, a soul, a living soul is two things. The dust of the ground and the breath of life from God. When God takes that breath away, the breath goes back to God. That's not a soul. That's his breath that goes back to him. Soul perishes. And that's in scripture too. The soul perishes. It's everywhere in Scripture. But if we look at the promises of 1st Corinthians 15, this is the promise. The victory over death is the promise. This is the gift of God. This is the gift. This is why Jesus came to save us so that we can put on immortality. It's a beautiful thing. It really is beautiful thing. Verse 54 here. So, when this corruptible shall have put on in corruption and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the same that is written. Death is swallowed up in victory. Oh, death, where's that sting? Oh, great, where is that victory? It's beautiful. This is the promise. This is the hope of the Christian. This is the hope of the believers of Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15. shows this. And the proof is in the pudding from the resurrection of Jesus that is covered here by Paul in the earlier verses of chapter 15. Again, just a fantastic, I didn't mean to go off in a tangent. We started talking about state of the dead and soul sleep. It was really not my intention. I just kind of ran with it. But this is a fantastic verse. Just such a... an amazing verse, and then, you know, verse 35 on kind of, you know, talks about the resurrection of the body. It's explained how the resurrection is done, and it's just a powerful chapter. Take some time, prayerfully study this. You'll get so much out of it, but yeah, chapter 15, one of my favorite chapters inside of 1st Corinthians, and verses 53, 55 are my go-toes. And again, this does answer so many questions about the resurrection of Jesus, about how we will put on, you know, the resurrected bodies, and the mortal must put on immortality. This is a promise.
