Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to Thoughts by John Goh. What do I call this, Bible blockchain and books, or Bible books and blockchain? I don't know. I still don't know what I'm calling this podcast. I just love being able to do this. And let me give a big shout out to Three Speak before we get into the, what I'm going over here in First Corinthians. I've been with Three Speak basically since day one, and... They've always been improving their services. But what we get now is like light years beyond my wildest dreams of how easy it is to upload these videos and recordings to the blockchain. These guys deserve their flowers. It's absolutely a joy to upload on their platform now. So, big shout out to Three Speak. And they're always supporting creators, which is, I salute it, I love it. Fantastic group of guys. Anyways, let's dive into 1st Corinthians, and we are on chapter 9. So chapter 8 yesterday, I went over, and to be honest with you guys, it, it was a difficult chapter for me personally. It was the shortest chapter, one of the shortest chapters in 1st and 2nd Corinthians, but there was a lot to it, and it took some time prayerfully to go through it, but... Chapter 9, I got right away. Like, there's some big takeaways that I'm going to go over here that, to me, were just, like, these aha moments, like, yes, yes, yes. So, I'm just going to go over a few of them right now. A couple of the verses in chapter 9, in my big takeaway of the chapter. So verse 16 is we have, I'm reading 1 Corinthians, chapter 9, verse 16, for though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of, for necessity is laid upon me, yay, Woe is unto me if I preach not the gospel. Now, this is obviously, specifically, I would say talking, you know, Paul's kind of like self -reflecting, like, hey, I know this stuff, I have to preach it, and I'm a fool if I don't. And you can put that as, you know, people of the book. you know, pastors and church elders and stuff like that, but I think this resonates with me personally. Like, I'm not a church elder, I'm not a pastor, I'm just a dude, I'm a layman, and verse 16 really hits because it's like, I feel I'm cheating like this, the people I love, I'm cheating you guys for not being, like, if I don't share. Jesus, if I don't share the faith of Jesus, if I don't share this amazing good news that's freely available to all. And Paul says it here, woe unto me, if I preach not the gospel. So, verse 16 was my highlight, but it also went down further in the chapter here, because we see some recurring themes, like if you remember in the beginning of Corinthians, he talked about, you know, people, you know, we're after heaven, we're after incorruption, we're after, you know, heavenly things, not carnally things. And my big takeaway, and this, I'll go into these verses here, but the big takeaway for me, this is what I wrote down, some run the race for worldly riches, we run for heavenly riches. And this is highlighted to me in verse 25, and every man, or let's do 24, 25, and 26. So 24, know ye not that they which run in a race, run all, but one receiveth the prize, so run that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible. I therefore, so run, not. As uncertainty, so fight I, not as one that breatheth the air. The highlight there is verse 25. The second part of verse 25. Now they do it, they run the race to obtain a corruptible ground, worldly riches. But we are running this race for incorruption, for heavenly riches. That is the huge takeaway for me. Verse 16 is like, I have to talk about this. It's, Jesus commissions us to. It's the great commission found in Matthew 26. But this here, what Paul's talking about is like, yeah, it's woe unto me if I don't talk about this, but I'm talking about this, so we all get that incorruption. Right? Mortal must put on immortality. the crowns that Jesus will put on our heads. That's what we're after. The worldly stuff, and it's funny, because I was doing my daily reading, and yesterday in Psalms 73 came up. And Psalm 73, if you know about it, is like, why do the wicked win? Why do the rich seem to win at life? Why are people that don't love God? sinners, criminals, why do these people seem to be running the show? Well, because of here in verse 25 of 1st Corinthians 9, they're doing it to obtain corruptible crowns. We're doing this, we're running the race of life for incorruption. And incorruptible, excuse me. And that's the takeaway, man. I mean, that's, to me, it's just so beautiful. It's, it's, it's, I don't know, there's something about the simplicity of the gospel, the simplicity of what Scripture is telling us that dying to self might seem like we're losing the race, but we're actually gaining. You know, I die to self daily. Like, you know, what did Jesus say when, in Gassimony, he said, Father, you know, if you can take this cup, take it from me, but it's not my will, it's your will. Dying to self. I love it, I love it. So, yes, like I said, First Corinthians 8 was a little rough for me, but First Corinthians 9, there were some, there were some jam-packed, jam-packed pieces in this, in this, that are just, oh, just so rich, so rich, and I'm just looking at it here, and I just, ah, it's great. Anyways. Hope you guys enjoy 1 Corinthians 9 as much as I did. I'm still, you know, I'm a few days. Let me check out where I'm at. I am actually at 2nd Corinthians 4 right now. So I read this a couple weeks ago, but I'm writing it down, and I will definitely get through 1st and 2nd Corinthians for these thoughts, these little podcasts of sorts. That was 1st Corinthians 9.
