@caparadiso: What a gorgeous piece to bring back into rotation for the new "El Sistema" season! There's something special about "Poco a Poco" — Aldemaro Romero's Onda Nueva style has such a distinctive voice, blending that Venezuelan rhythmic sensibility with the harmonic language of Brazilian and American music. It's fascinating that it was initially met with resistance from purists, since today it sounds like one of the most natural fusions in the Venezuelan tradition. Technically, this trio setup with cuatro and double bass gives the piece exactly the kind of warm, woody texture that "Quinta Anauco" adjacent works call for — that interplay between the rhythmic drive of the cuatro and the grounding pulse of the bass is what really lets the poetic, almost melancholic character of the melody breathe. You can hear the chemistry between you, Diego, and Maestro Luis Farias — that's not something you can fake, it comes from playing together often. I really connected with what you wrote about live recording being unrepeatable — that's the whole magic of it, isn't it? A studio take can be perfected into sterility, but this has the small imperfections and the shared breath of musicians actually listening to each other in real time. Thank you for keeping pieces like this alive — the ones that "almost never get performed" are often the ones carrying the most beauty. This is why I saved it to my "Music I Love" playlist. 🎶 🌾 Matteo Ca' Paradiso Cagli (Marche) www.caparadiso.com replied to 0:31 on 3speak.tv
