@valued-customer: Regarding raising cells in a lab, there's a variety of different tissues in meat that provide textures and flavors that aren't present in lab grown cells, that have no texture at all. They might add some to fix the problem. Jo Zayner of the odin.com, who sells equipment and educational materials on bioengineering, published results of his growing chicken cells and proved it can be done. I guess if I have to eat lab grown meat, I'll grow my own. Rather eat peanuts, TBQH. Folks that have no access to dirt to raise food on can always use aquaponics, in which fish or crawdads fed scraps supply nutrients to plants grown hydroponically that clean the fish waste out of the water so it can be returned to the fish tanks. I've seen aquaponics setups that were able to supply small commercial quantities of tilapia, and they're pretty simple. If you don't have a sunny window to grow plants in, LED lights will also work in a garage or attic. Personally, I'm going to be growing my plant foods myself, because I don't want all the biocides, or vaccines, commercial food contains. It's easy to grow chickens, quail, or rabbits in a very small space for folks that eat them. A goat or two can supply milk. I can't grow goats in my attic, but quail don't take much room, and have tasty eggs. If we're going to transform the food system, I'd much rather grow my own. I'll trust the farmer that way. I sure don't want to be dependent on Rockefellers for my supper. Thanks! Edit: congratulations on getting a site on which to build your dreams!
