Hey everyone, Callan here, and in this video, I'm just going to give an update on the dugout shelter. Here is the hole that we have dug with the tractor, and then I spent maybe a day leveling out, getting all the rocks out, all that type of stuff. So it's about five and a half feet tall. We'll go inside in a second. Here's the ramp that goes down to the door, and then out that corner. is basically a drain because there's going to be ditches dug along all the walls and filled with gravel, so that the water kind of goes down towards that direction and out the side of the hill. So here's the ramp. I'm probably going to use cinder blocks as the steps, and we're going to go down this thing. Last step is a doozy. So as you can see, pretty tall. And to give you a sense for the height, I am 6 feet tall, so it's actually probably a little bit more than 5 .5 feet. But that's okay, because the building's going to be about 6.5 to 7 feet tall. The roof is going to angle down so that rain runs off one side. So as I said, I'm going to dig. some trenches here, already kind of started right there, and fill them with gravel and they'll all angle down and go out the back here, which we filled with rocks, and we're going to set a pipe on top of this, which comes in to give a little bit of air inlet into the structure. And then the pallets will actually sit right on top of the gravel, so the... ditches will be right below the wall. I might put a piece of plastic right on top just so the moisture doesn't get to the wood and cause mold or anything like that if I have extra with the billboard vinyl. And this is where the door will be, so I'll walk down here, and then over here will be the stove that I'm building out of firebricks, with the chimney going up, and the wind will be blowing this direction, so it'll be going off, the smoke will be going off that way. So for those of you who don't know, where I am is going to be extremely cold in the winter. A couple years ago, it got down to negative 40. And it's also known to have very high winds. So that's, those are the two main reasons why this is dugout so low. Basically because when you get down into the ground, the farther you go, the warmer it gets. And if you get far enough down, it stays up around 45-50s degrees. without any heating just by itself and then also being down low keeps the building out of the wind so I don't have to worry about it getting blown over or anything like that or just being constantly annoyed with big gusts of the winds hitting the side of the building and making a lot of noise so anyways next I'll be putting the pallets tying them up I'm getting some rope today and then I'm After that, I need to go to a hardware store and buy some, I think I'm going to get OSB for the roof, and I also have a 12 by 12 foot billboard vinyl tarp coming that I'm going to place over the roof to waterproof it. And then after that, I will be building the stove. So a lot of this is just waiting for things to come. or waiting for an opportunity to go to a store, like there's a store that's, I think, an hour or two away, which has much cheaper prices, which we're going to be going to sometime within a week or two. So, you know, just waiting for things like that. So anyways, thank you to all of you for your support, basically helping me buy supplies for this by donating on calend.org slash gift, gift cards, or cryptocurrency I can use to get pretty much anything I need. But at this point, I think I'm pretty much set to get everything that I will need for this unless there's some unexpected things. And then the only thing that I'm worrying about at that point is getting enough food to survive the winter. But I eat very inexpensively, so it really doesn't take much to make sure that I don't starve. So, and once I get this shelter built, then I'm probably going to go into town and start asking around and seeing if there's anyone who needs... a hand because in this town if you go if you go around you see that most of the people running things are you know fairly old like there's not a whole lot of young people here and so there's probably a lot of opportunities for someone like me so anyways that's the update thanks for watching and I'll see you guys later
