Fantastic question posed this summer in a post that has had me thinking. wWhat does center me? What does that even mean?
Contemplating what feeling centered might be for me, I thought of all the things I enjoy doing. I do like going on adventures and blogging about it to feel connected to the world but I wouldn’t call that centering, rather rewarding, informative and thoughtful at times.
After a summer of travel, business firsts and adventures, I have come to realize that sitting on the shore of a lake in the middle of the forest centers me. Feeling the weight of the big sky, the caress of the fresh breeze. Listening to the to the waves lapping the shore and being connected to the wildlife. That centers me, makes me feel at ease, and is an arrival of sorts at a peaceful, centering destination.
So, I share with you 45 second of centeredness in the middle of the Canadian wilderness. Perched on the shore of an island in the middle of Little Trout Lake in the interior of Algonquin Provincial Park was off the grid. 8 Km from the access point with is another 45 minutes drive from the nearest house.
The breeze rolling in from the east, water rippling on the rocky shore, and the loons calling out to each other and their own echoes.
Hopefully these moments of solitude and nature center you as well.
What centers you?
