WARNING! The drums come in a bit loud at the start, so mind your hearing.
I was looking for something to play along with from the vast selection on Drumeo. I looked at a couple of songs, but they need more preparation before I would feel happy doing a video. They also have some generic backing tracks and I picked one that is based on Lynyrd Skynyrd.
I used it as an exercise in using some of the fills I have been playing in a recent lesson. I was trying to get the fill into the eighth bar each time, so I was counting, but also trying to feel where that was.
There is an odd bit in the middle with just the bass where I lost my place a bit, but it was not too bad generally. I may just be slightly behind the beat. This is where is can be useful to have the optional metronome. Of course, in a band the drummer usually provides the beat, so playing drums over a backing track like this reverses that. With some songs the bass orguitar can give you something solid to follow.
Anyway, it was about time I did another recording and it is good practice for me. I have been playing with my band that includes some Hivers, but we only rehearse once each month.
I am continuing the double stroke challenge. I have improved my stamina and speed quite a bit. I will do some of that this evening too.
Rock on!
