"Zamba para no morir" is a song that deals in an allegorical way with the theme of death, that great mystery about which so many conjectures and speculations are ventured and so few certainties.
I met it when I was about 26 years old, an age at which one hardly thinks about death. However, inspired by this poem made into a song, for the first time in my life I was reflecting on the vulnerable fragility of our physical existence.
A parallel is made between the tree that falls with an ax "but the tree will grow new" and the human who affirms "in the son it can become new"... and when it affirms "forgetfulness cannot defeat me" ir explains: "a history will remember me alive".
My version is faster than the original and I made some melodic variations that I hope you like. “Zamba para no morir” was popularized by Mercedes Sosa but was written by Hamlet Lima Quintana, Argentine poet, author of more than four hundred songs
As the light of day burns in the sky leave. With the leather amazed I will leave, hoarse when shouting that I will return distributed in the air to sing, always.
My reason does not ask for mercy, is ready to leave.
Ritual death does not scare me, just sleep, see me erase.
A story will remind me, always
Hola comunidad.
