My Father

The common thread this time is the theme "Love". I remember reading in the book "Disciples" written by Pastor Juan Carlos Ortiz that love "is the oxygen of the Kingdom of God." Everything centers on love. God gave us his Son out of love. Christ died for us out of love. According to the words of our Lord, the world will believe when we are one. And we will be one when we love each other as He wants us to.

The song I will share with you today is called "My Father." I learned it when I was young in Córdoba, Argentina, where I had gone to study Theology. I couldn't finish it because I got sick because I couldn't adapt to the climate of the four marked seasons when in Venezuela we only have two: a dry one and a rainy one.

Padre mío

El hilo conductor está vez es la temática "El Amor". Recuerdo haber leído en el libro "Discipulos" escrito por el pastor Juan Carlos Ortiz que el amor "es el oxígeno del Reino de Dios" . Y es que debemos tener presente siempre que nuestro Señor Jesucristo resumió todos los mandamientos y leyes en sólo dos : 37 Jesús le dijo: Amarás al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, y con toda tu alma, y con toda tu mente. 38 Este es el primero y grande mandamiento. 39 Y el segundo es semejante: Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo. 40 De estos dos mandamientos depende toda la ley y los profetas.

En el amor se centra todo. Dios nos dio a su Hijo por amor. Cristo murió por nosotros por amor. Según las palabras de nuestro Señor, el mundo creerá cuando seamos uno. Y seremos uno cuando nos amemos los unos a los otros como Él quiere que lo hagamos.

La canción que compartiré hoy con ustedes se llama "Padre mío". La aprendí cuando joven en Córdoba, Argentina, donde había ido a estudiar Teología. No pude terminar la carrera porque me enfermé al no poderme adaptar al clima de las cuatro estaciones tan marcadas cuando en Venezuela sólo tenemos dos: una seca y una lluviosa.
Allá me hospedaba en la Casa de formación de las Pías Discipulas del Divino Maestro. Bettina era una joven novicia encargada de tocar la guitarra en las Misas, con una voz muy dulce la escuché interpretar está canción una de cuyas líneas afirma: "Esta es la vida: Saber que me amas y que te amo..."
De eso se trata la vida, en esto debe centrarse: en ser conscientes de que Dios nos ama, en amarlo sobre todas las cosas y en amar a nuestro prójimo como a nosotros mismos.
