They want to claim this space as their permanent house

It has been quite an interesting time watching this lone squab growing up so close, if you have not seen it earlier and do not know what it has gone through, then look at my previous post. It is lucky to be alive though it lost it's sibling. As a result, it got lot of sympathy from us as the kids wanted to make sure, nothing happens to this squab.

As it grew up, we saw the mother was leaving her alone for some time and going somewhere. That is the time for our photography, as she is very protective and attacks like any other mother. I could not capture all the love they share - they play with their beak - may be the mother teaches the kid to how to use them. The moment I was going closer, they will be stand still. And in fact, this baby also started reacting , whenever we were trying to open the window, when the mother was not around. So probably she learnt it fast or that is the first thing that the mother taught.

The kids felt, the mother is going out for some food, may be the amount that was provided is not enough for both of them. So a little extra was given and more no of times as well. The squab slowly walked to the food and ate it. It was interesting to see the mother not allowing other pigeon to touch the food as they tried to invade. Watching them, a little dramatic fun started at home everyday - how a mother is protecting its kid by not allowing even her husband to eat the food.

Soon it was difficult to differentiate between the squab and its mother as you can see. With so much food, it probably grew up faster. Can you differentiate ? The only way we could differentiate them is the color around the neck - the squab does not have that yet. And then one fine day, we saw another pigeon joining the family - this time the mother was not reacting much. We thought, it must be the father. May be its a family reunion now that the squab was grown up. May be the mother wanted the father join the kid to take the responsibility, help it grow up, and fly possibly.

Soon we saw the father often and even it started to eat the food, without the mother protecting. It was also playing with the squab - seemed they forgot the loss of their other child and now enjoying the time as a family and would teach the squab together to help it fly. Every day, we were watching, when the squab would fly because that was the only activity yet to be done.

Never did we realize that they are planning for family expansion so soon, before we were surprised to see a new egg in the nest.

The husband's activity was suspicious but seems, it came for a purpose. The kids were heart broken - what, the squab has become a pigeon but its yet to fly. How can they abandon the child and think about more child now !! They should teach it to fly first. But then we tried to cool down them - probably that is the difference between animals and human - we take care of all kids but animals abandon their kids once they are grown up. And to add to our frustration, a second egg followed after two days.

Come on, you want this place to be your permanent home ? We don't want to close this window forever. It was fine for a while, but its already a mess with bad smell and we wanted to clean it up as soon as they leave this place. But you are planning for two more kids !! How can you do that !! We will spoil your plan.

After several discussions, we have decided to show pity again - we really cannot kill the lives inside those eggs. The kids inherit the same quality - they got angry but then they don't want to hurt the eggs. So we are going to see more squabs soon possibly - we don't know how things will unfold but in this process, when we opened the window angrily, after seeing the eggs, the squab (or you can say the pigeon now) started to fly. It flied and went and sat at another nearest window but that was good to see. May be it needed that push - similar to us. When life forces you to face - you learn how to face.
