In order not to lose the habit in this new cycle, I want to share with you another cover of a salsa classic that, to this day, 43 years after its premiere, continues to arouse passions. It is "La esencia del guaguancó", a song immortalized by Jhony Pacheco and with the incomparable voice of Pete "El Conde" Rodríguez.

Para no perder la costumbre en este nuevo ciclo, quiero compartir con ustedes otro cover de un clásico de la salsa que, hasta el día de hoy, después de 43 años de su estreno, sigue despertando pasiones. Se trata de "La esencia del guaguancó", una canción inmortalizada por Jhony Pacheco y con la inigualable voz de Pete "El Conde" Rodríguez.

It is important to note that it was composed by C. Curet Alonso and originally released by Fania Records as part of the album "La Perfecta Combinación" in 1970. However, I have the privilege of owning a physical reissue from 1991. While the lyrics of this song may seem simple, with a single verse repeated twice, lots of chorus and improvisation by the singer. I believe its power lies in its ability to convey the very essence of salsa music. It invites us to immerse ourselves in a contagious rhythm full of energy, where the guaguancó, that rhythmic and danceable style characteristic of Afro-Cuban music, becomes the undisputed protagonist.

Es importante destacar que fue compuesta por C. Curet Alonso y publicada originalmente por Fania Records como parte del álbum "La Perfecta Combinación" en 1970. Sin embargo, tengo el privilegio de poseer una reedición física del año 1991. Si bien la letra de esta canción puede parecer sencilla, con una única estrofa que se repite dos veces, mucho coro e improvisación del cantante. Creo su poder radica en la capacidad de transmitir la esencia misma de la música salsa. Nos invita a sumergirnos en un ritmo contagioso y lleno de energía, donde el guaguancó, ese estilo rítmico y bailable característico de la música afro-cubana, se convierte en el protagonista indiscutible.

With its irresistible cadence and swing it becomes an invitation to dance and enjoy without restrictions. I understand that, in those days, it was common to find songs with simple lyrics that focused on exalting the powerful rhythm of salsa. These songs were meant to be the soul of the parties, where people were carried away by the music and surrendered to the magic of the dance floor.

Con su irresistible cadencia y su swing se convierte en una invitación a bailar y disfrutar sin restricciones. Entiendo que, en aquellos tiempos, era común encontrar canciones con letras simples que se centraban en exaltar el poderoso ritmo de la salsa. Estas canciones estaban destinadas a ser el alma de las fiestas, donde la gente se dejaba llevar por la música y se entregaba a la magia de la pista de baile.
