Heroes of Holdem: Open Beta $2000 Season Leaderboard

Heroes of Holdem is a new NFT card game in beta phase. The game was developed on Polygon and will run there, but currently it works off-chain.

I will go over the following below:

1. Tokenomics

The game has 2 tokens. The first is $ENEFTY, on Polygon. This token will be the main token of the game.

$ENEFTY holders will be able to stake their tokens and receive rewards in return. Several in-game features will also be available for $ENEFTY. Currently, this token is not yet available.

The other is the H$RO token, which is the game's primary in-game token, although according to the Whitepaper, certain in-game options will also be available with $ENEFTY.

H$RO token has no hard cap to its total supply, and the circulating supply will be in constant change.

2. Reward system, free to play and earn

The game is free and the play to earn function will also be available for free. Currently, we can start with 4 free heroes. Obviously, these provide fewer and weaker options than other NFT heroes.

What is important to remember: Free to play Accounts with zero NFT Heroes will have a modifier of -80% as a protective measure for the economy and its paid players.

The modifier is associated with the player's Hero Ranking. (At the moment, all new players start from 1000 Hero Ranking points, and it changes based on their in-game performance. Reaching paid places in tournament and SNG games will boost it, not reaching those positions will decrease it.

The Event tickets will be an important part, too. (Currently, it isn't in use, but it will in full launch.)

3. Collectible NFTs

Heroes

This is where the more interesting part begins. The most important in-game assets will be the hero NFTs. According to their whitepaper, 7 free heroes will be available, but currently there are only 4.

There will be over 1 billion total possible combinations ensuring the uniqueness of each of these launch heroes. This provides quite a lot of depth to the game.

Hero NFTs will be available prior to launch during our launch minting event. Eight thousand Heroes will be available for players to randomly mint at this time.

Abilities

There are 2 types of abilities: Activated and Triggered. Abilities are usable only once per event, so use them wisely!

Activated abilities played in betting order in an additional round of action after betting action closes and before the next street comes. The triggered ones can be played at any point in the game when the qualifications for playing them are met.

When the game goes live, you need to buy chests to get ability NFTs. (and equipments, minions) Each chest will contain 1 ability, 1 equipment, 1 minion NFT. There are rare, epic and legendary chests.

At the moment, 7 class exist with 20+ abilities each.

Equipments

There are more than 50 equipments, what are also NFTs. The equipments give you constant passive bonuses.

Minions

Minions in Heroes of Holdem are NFT assets used in player loadouts.

In gameplay, they act as autonomous NPC entrants in the event you sign up for. Minions come in various strengths and have various AI strategies assigned to them.

4. Gameplay

The game is a combination of poker and collectible NFT card games. The gameplay is based on the rules of poker. Currently, all poker rules apply, next to that the spells (abilities) come into effect and also various equipment and minions.

Instead of writing a lot about the game, here is a short 2 and 4 players SNGs final table video. (quality not the best, but the main things readable) And don't be fooled by the 2 and 4 players, it's still 6-6 players + each of their minions participating together. So, in practice, we are talking about multitable SNGs of 14-18 people. (The 6 players will be complete with NPC heroes, which are actually bots.)

There are a few more things worth mentioning. The H$RO token currently counts only on the leaderboard, and we can temporarily buy heroes with it until the end of the Beta. These will be deleted after the full launch. NFT heroes bought for FIAT or crypto, no. This actually corresponds to a kind of pre-sale.

5. Marketplace

The Marketplace is now live. Heroes can be bought for $20, chests for $3. For heroes, this means a 60% discount. According to the information on Discord, these will be available later for $50. (The full launch is expected in the first quarter of 2024.)

I'd like to mention, think it twice before buying any hero, because balancing is still in progress. It is not certain that even after the full launch they will be the most suitable for tactics, as they are today.

6. $2000 Season Leaderboard in Open Beta

As I mentioned, the game is in Open Beta phase. Promotional seasons run during this time. The current one will end in 2 days (it was 30 days long. The good news is that the next one will start right after this. The total reward of the leaderboard is $2000, which will be distributed among the first 30 places. (According to their Discord info, 3 more is coming, however the next one will last for 45 days.)

Points can be earned by collecting H$RO tokens, which can be earned at tournaments and SNGs. In SNGs, usually 2 places pay different amounts depending on how many real players played.

Since the game is not yet widely known, it is relatively easy to reach paid sites. I managed to get into the top30 in 3 days.

7. Referral Leaderboard

They also have a referral leaderboard where the first 10 places pay. A referred player must collect 25 H$RO to be added to your name on the list. Which is not much at all, winning a 4 player SNG can earn 25 H$RO.
