This week's theme is called "Telling a story" and I thought it was a good opportunity to dust off some elements that for different reasons I had forgotten in time to share them with the community. Before the guitar, the bass was the instrument I played the most. More than 10 years ago I bought the Hartke A70 70-watt amplifier which became my best friend for a long time. Together with it, I spent hours playing any number of rock and metal songs and even used it on several occasions in home gigs with my friends. I still have it and it is precisely one of the elements that I have recently taken up again since I had more than 6 years without using it.

Another thing that I used again after a long time, was my Lexicon Alpha audio interface, this is perfect for recording high quality musical instruments and it was precisely the one that helped me to record this bass cover. It is easy to use and has very good connectivity with most audio programs, you just have to install the drivers and that's it. I remember I bought this interface on Amazon, I think it was back in 2012. It is still in perfect condition and I hope to enjoy it for a long time to come.

The audio program I used was Cubase 5, it is a rather old version, but it does practically everything you ask it to do, or well, as far as the simple things I do are concerned, it works perfectly. It has integrated some plugins that are quite simple, but they are useful to make some modifications that can give a better sound to the recorded lines. For this bass cover I used the AmpSimulator and applied the Tube effect, I think it gave a good color to the bass as I didn't want it to sound too clean or flat.

As for the song I'm sharing with you today, it's "Get Lucky" by the French duo Daft Punk, accompanied on vocals by the famous Pharrell Williams. I got the track from Daft Punk's official YouTube channel and I used the Moises application to remove the bass as it was precisely what I was going to record. I made a shorter version as I didn't want to bore you. I tried to give it my current rusty style, but I thought this is a good opportunity to warm up with the bass and remember my best moments with it. If you listen to the original version you will notice that the bass I play is nothing like it, but that was the idea.

La temática de ésta semana lleva por nombre "Contando una historia" y me pareció una buena oportunidad para desempolvar algunos elementos que por distintas razones tenía olvidadas en el tiempo para compartirlas con la comunidad. Antes de la guitarra, era el bajo el instrumento que más tocaba. Hace más de 10 años me compré el amplificador Hartke A70 de 70-watts el cual se convirtió en mi mejor amigo por mucho tiempo. Junto con éste, pasé horas tocando cualquier cantidad de canciones de rock y metal e incluso lo usé en varias oportunidades en toques caseros con mis amigos. Aún lo tengo y es precisamente uno de los elementos que recientemente he retomado ya que tenía más de 6 años sin usarlo.

Otra cosa que volví a usar luego de mucho tiempo, fue mi interfaz de audio Lexicon Alpha, ésta es perfecta para grabar con alta calidad instrumentos musicales y fue precisamente la que me ayudó a grabar éste cover de bajo. Es fácil de usar y tiene muy buena conectividad con la mayoría de programas de audio, solo tienes que instalar los driver y listo. Recuerdo que compré ésta interfaz por Amazon, creo que fue por allá en el año 2012. Aún está en perfecto estado y espero poder disfrutarla por mucho tiempo más.

El programa de audio que usé fue el Cubase 5, es una versión bastante antigua, pero que hace prácticamente todo lo que le pides, o bueno, en lo que respecta a las cosas sencillas que hago funciona perfectamente. Trae integrado algunos plugins que son bastante simples, pero que sirven para hacer algunas modificaciones que puedan dar mejor sonido a las líneas grabadas. Para éste cover de bajo usé el AmpSimulator y apliqué el efecto Tube, creo que le dio un buen color al bajo ya que no quería que se escuchara tan limpio o plano.

En lo que respecta a la canción que hoy comparto con ustedes, se trata de "Get Lucky" del dúo francés Daft Punk, en la voz los acompaña el famoso Pharrell Williams. La pista la obtuve del canal oficial de YouTube de Daft Punk y usé la aplicación Moises para eliminar el bajo ya que era precisamente lo que yo iba a grabar. Hice una versión más corta ya que no quería aburrirlos. Traté de darle mi oxidado estilo actual, pero me pareció que ésta es una buena oportunidad para ir entrando en calor con el bajo e ir recordando mis mejores momentos con el mismo. Sí escuchan la versión original podrán darse cuenta que el bajo que yo hago no se parece en nada, pero esa era la idea.
