A few days ago, I read a review from my friend @wongi in which she talked about "Evil Dead Rise". By that time, I had already seen the movie and shared with her many feelings regarding this film. We both agreed on several aspects where, unfortunately, this movie failed. Today I want to share my experience and how I experienced this film.

Being in this community, I have reviewed both series and movies, and I always try to find the positive aspects so that those who read my articles feel encouraged to watch them. However, in the case of this movie, there are few positives to highlight.

Hace unos días, leí una reseña de mi amiga @wongi en la que hablaba sobre "Evil Dead: El Despertar". Para ese momento, ya había visto la película y compartí con ella muchos sentimientos respecto a este film. Ambas estuvimos de acuerdo en varios aspectos en los que, lamentablemente, esta película falló. Hoy quiero compartir mi experiencia y cómo viví esta cinta cinematográfica.

Estando en esta comunidad, he realizado reseñas tanto de series como de películas, y siempre trato de encontrar los aspectos positivos para que aquellos que lean mis artículos se sientan animados a verlas. Sin embargo, en el caso de esta película, son pocos los elementos positivos a destacar.

"Evil Dead Rise" lacks a defined beginning and end, it's like a repetitive circle that never stops, changing the characters in the story. Lacking a clear narrative structure, the film completely lacks purpose. While I know there is a franchise of Evil Dead movies, I wasn't aware of them before this installment, but if they are just as disappointing as "The Awakening", then I won't waste my time watching them.

The plot centers on two sisters fighting a demon that emerges from a mystical book. At first, it seemed interesting, but as the minutes progressed, it all turned into an increasingly grotesque bloodbath that ended up making the movie a bit bland.

"Evil Dead: El Despertar" carece de un principio y un fin definidos, es como un círculo repetitivo que no se detiene, cambiando a los personajes de la historia. Al no tener una estructura narrativa clara, la película carece completamente de propósito. Aunque sé que hay una franquicia de películas de Evil Dead, no las conocía antes de esta entrega, pero si son igual de decepcionantes que "El Despertar", entonces no perderé mi tiempo viéndolas.

El argumento se centra en dos hermanas que luchan contra un demonio que emerge de un libro místico. En un principio, parecía interesante, pero a medida que avanzaban los minutos, todo se convirtió en un baño de sangre cada vez más grotesco y que terminó haciendo la película un poco insípida.

I believe that the purpose of a horror movie is to keep you in a state of tension, anticipating what might happen and giving you unexpected scares. In the case of "Evil Dead", this did not happen. While I was in the theater, many of us in the audience even laughed at the implausibility of certain situations. Also, the excessive use of action scenes made me completely forget that it was a horror movie.

The actors were fine, I must say that their performance was good. However, unfortunately, they lacked a solid plot that would allow them to develop their characters further. If I had to pick one in particular, I would highlight Beth, played by Lilly Sullivan. She went from being a person in search of approval and afraid of an impending pregnancy, to taking charge and defending her family from the demon.

Considero que la finalidad de una película de terror es mantenerte en un estado de tensión, anticipando lo que pueda suceder y provocándote sustos inesperados. En el caso de "Evil Dead", esto no sucedió. Mientras estaba en la sala de cine, muchos de los presentes incluso nos reíamos de lo inverosímiles que resultaban ciertas situaciones. Además, el uso excesivo de escenas de acción me hizo olvidar por completo que era una película de terror.

Los actores estuvieron bien, debo decir que su interpretación fue buena. Sin embargo, lamentablemente, no contaban con una trama sólida que les permitiera desarrollar más a sus personajes. Si tuviera que elegir a uno en particular, destacaría a Beth, interpretado por Lilly Sullivan. Pasó de ser una persona en busca de aprobación y con miedo a un embarazo inminente, a tomar las riendas y defender a su familia del demonio.

As for the cinematography and makeup, this is what saves the film from being a complete rip-off. The lighting suits each scene, providing highlights and shadows when necessary. During the possession of Ellie, played by Alyssa Sutherland, the makeup is fantastic. Her smile is genuinely devilish and it adds to the film.

En cuanto a la fotografía y el maquillaje, esto es lo que salva a la película de ser un completo fraude. La iluminación se ajusta a cada escena, brindando luces y sombras cuando es necesario. Durante la posesión de Ellie, interpretado por Alyssa Sutherland, el maquillaje es fantástico. Su sonrisa es genuinamente diabólica y eso le da un plus a la película.

I definitely don't think the gore style is my thing. Perhaps for that reason, I didn't connect with this film which, in the end, I found a bit absurd and grotesque. However, I recognize that in the end, the opinion on whether this movie is good or bad corresponds to an individual judgment. I thank you for visiting me and for your kind comments. Definitivamente, creo que el estilo gore no es lo mío. Quizás por esa razón, no conecté con esta película que, al final, me pareció un poco absurda y grotesca.
