The internet sells the illusion of "free" while social platforms have transcended from lightly monetizing people to taking advantage of their data and further monetizing them, but this isn't even the problem. I think big techs understand that people do not care about data, as long as the social utility is guaranteed.
However, most times we unknowingly pay for these social utilities without having to look at how much we're losing because it's hardly relevant. In this video, I talked about the Elon Musk's revolutionary swoop on Twitter and he obviously aims to monetize it. The question I raised was this. Is the uncertainty going on in web2 enough to sell the essence of web3 and why Hive is already a tool for this construct?
I talked about why people might not seek alternatives because of their establishments here and there, and why people would likely stick. It's a case of having a toxic relationship but because the toxic person is providing the essential monetary condiment, it'll be difficult for the person who's meted a toxic treatment to leave.
I further went on to discuss why web3 would need a bigger revelation to appeal or sell and why Hive can become a better web3 representation as it's quite difficult to break the charade of freedom that's being sold on social platforms all over the internet.
