Hello everybody on Hive and especially the Hive Open Mic Community! My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town in South Africa!

Welcome to Week 166 of the Hive Open Mic Challenge. The theme for the week is “Never Give Up"!

Well, I am expecting lots of motivational songs like “I Believe I Can Fly” or “The Climb”. Perhaps a few funny Rick-rolls as well (“Never gonna give you up!”)… so I thought I would do something a little more obscure!

It just so happens that the CD I was playing in my car last week was the wonderful hard-rock album called “Frogstomp”, which was the debut of an Australian band called Silverchair back in 1995 when I was only 10 years old! Believe it or not, the band members of Silverchair were only 15 years old themselves at the time, and so the album got a lot of recognition for how good it sounds for such young musicians!

Perhaps Australia had a thing for child prodigies in those days, because two years later there was the very young Hanson brothers and their much poppier “Mmmbop”!

Well, at the end of Silverchair’s “Frogstomp” album they end with the short and rousing song called “Findaway”, in which the lyrics “Don’t Give In…” are repeated several times! Here is the original:

¡Hola a todos en Hive y especialmente a la comunidad Hive Open Mic! ¡Mi nombre es Jasper y les escribo (y canto) desde Ciudad del Cabo en Sudáfrica!

Bienvenidos a la semana 166 del Hive Open Mic Challenge. ¡El tema de la semana es "Nunca te rindas"!

Bueno, espero muchas canciones motivadoras como “I Believe I Can Fly” o “The Climb”. Tal vez también algunos Rick-rolls divertidos ("¡Nunca te abandonaré!") ... ¡así que pensé en hacer algo un poco más oscuro!

Da la casualidad de que el CD que estaba escuchando en mi auto la semana pasada era el maravilloso álbum de hard rock llamado "Frogstomp", que fue el debut de una banda australiana llamada Silverchair en 1995 cuando solo tenía 10 años. Lo creas o no, los miembros de la banda de Silverchair solo tenían 15 años en ese momento, por lo que el álbum obtuvo mucho reconocimiento por lo bien que suena para músicos tan jóvenes.

¡Quizás Australia tenía algo por los niños prodigio en esos días, porque dos años más tarde estaban los muy jóvenes hermanos Hanson y su mucho más pop "Mmmbop"!
