Musiczone Song challenge Phase 2 (ENG/ESP) - "Girl Power Blues!" by @jasperdick (original)

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen! Welcome to my entry for the Music Zone Song Challenge Phase 2! My name is Jasper Dick, and I am singing to you from Cape Town in South Africa!

Now, the whole point of this challenge is that I need to present to you a brand-new original song that I have never played in public or uploaded online to places like Hive, Facebook or YouTube before!

Why am I wearing a wig? Well, that is because today’s new song should be sung by a woman. Luckily, I am in a musical duo with my friend and fellow HIVER @clairemobey. We call ourselves “MobeyDick” when we perform together. So, I have showed Claire the rough draft that I’m going to play for you today, and she plans to add more melody to the verses and a few of her own lyrics, but hopefully we can keep the same spirit!

I don’t really have a name for this song yet, so I am referring to it as “Girl Power Blues”. I was doodling around on my guitar and came up with two bluesy riffs that involved transitions between A and G three times, before the line ends with Esus4 to E…

I realised one preferred to be palm-muted while the other upped the energy, and so suddenly one started looking like a verse while the other could be the chorus.

The reason I want @clairemobey to sing it instead of me, is it’s supposed to be sung from the narrative of a female character who manages to get the upper hand on all the asshole men in her life, first at her place of work, and then her husband!

The hope is that we create a rowdy song, where we can really “ham it up” and have fun with the performance… and hopefully the ladies in the audience, fuelled by a glass or two of wine, enjoy the song!

I hope you enjoy the first draft, I look forward to improving the verses in time with @clairemobey’s help!

¡Hola damas y caballeros! ¡Bienvenidos a mi entrada para la Fase 2 del Music Zone Song Challenge! ¡Mi nombre es Jasper Dick y les canto desde Ciudad del Cabo en Sudáfrica!

Ahora, el objetivo de este desafío es que necesito presentarles una nueva canción original que nunca antes había reproducido en público ni subido en línea a lugares como Hive, Facebook o YouTube.

¿Por qué llevo peluca? Bueno, eso se debe a que la nueva canción de hoy debería ser cantada por una mujer. Por suerte, estoy en un dúo musical con mi amiga y compañera HIVER @clairemobey. Nos llamamos "MobeyDick" cuando actuamos juntos. Entonces, le mostré a Claire el borrador que voy a tocar para ustedes hoy, y ella planea agregar más melodía a los versos y algunas de sus propias letras, ¡pero espero que podamos mantener el mismo espíritu!

Realmente todavía no tengo un nombre para esta canción, así que me refiero a ella como “Girl Power Blues”. Estaba garabateando en mi guitarra y se me ocurrieron dos riffs de blues que involucraban transiciones entre A y G tres veces, antes de que la línea terminara con Esus4 a E...

Me di cuenta de que uno prefería silenciar la palma de la mano mientras el otro aumentaba la energía, y de repente uno empezó a parecer un verso mientras el otro podía ser el estribillo.

La razón por la que quiero que @clairemobey la cante en mi lugar es que se supone que debe cantarse a partir de la narrativa de un personaje femenino que logra dominar a todos los hombres imbéciles de su vida, primero en su lugar de trabajo, y luego su marido!

La esperanza es que creemos una canción ruidosa, donde realmente podamos “exagerar” y divertirnos con la interpretación... y, con suerte, las damas del público, animadas por una copa o dos de vino, ¡disfruten de la canción!

Espero que disfrutes el primer borrador. ¡Espero mejorar los versos con el tiempo con la ayuda de @clairemobey!
