Hola amigos amantes de la música, una saludo especial a la comunidad de Pukumundo, hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un cover de guitarra de AFI una banda norteamericana que había quedado en el olvido para mí, pero cuyas primeras canciones que llegué a oir aun me emocionan.

Hello friends music lovers, a special greeting to the community of Pukumundo, today I want to share with you a guitar cover of AFI, an American band that had been forgotten for me, but whose first songs I got to hear still move me.

AFI es una banda de rock alternativo con importantes influencias de otros géneros como el punk, fue fundada en Ukiah, California, en 1991 y desde entonces se mantiene activa con unos 11 álbumes de Studio en su haber.

AFI is an alternative rock band with important influences from other genres such as punk, was founded in Ukiah, California, in 1991 and since then has been active with some 11 Studio albums to its credit.

La canción que decidí tocar, se llama Girl’s Not Grey, la cual fue muy popular a principios de la década del 2000, pues su video musical formaba parte de la parrilla de programación de MTV Latinoamérica, un video bastante innovador para la época, en donde se presentaba un mundo fantástico de colores extraños y personajes un tanto atemorizantes.

The song I decided to play is called Girl's Not Grey, which was very popular in the early 2000s, as its music video was part of the programming grid of MTV Latin America, a very innovative video for the time, which presented a fantastic world of strange colors and somewhat frightening characters.

Para tocar este cover descargue un par de tablaturas y evalué cual era más acertada, pero también observé varios videos en vivo de la banda, para ver qué línea de guitarra seguía su guitarrista, pues esta canción se toca a dos guitarras aun cuando la banda posee un solo guitarrista. Por ello quería reproducir la canción lo más exacto a como se toca en vivo.

To play this cover I downloaded a couple of tablatures and evaluated which one was more accurate, but I also watched several live videos of the band, to see what guitar line their guitarist was following, because this song is played with two guitars even though the band has only one guitarist. So I wanted to reproduce the song as closely as possible to how it is played live.

Para su grabación e utilizado el fondo de batería y bajo de una de las tablaturas elaboradas en el Software Guitar pro, he utilizado Cubase 5 y una interface M-audio.

For its recording I used the drum and bass background of one of the tablatures elaborated in Guitar pro software, I used Cubase 5 and an M-audio interface.

He disfrutado esta canción pues es sumamente enérgica. Y tiene excelentes arreglos y detalles que sin duda resulta un deleite oír, y más aún poder tocar.

I enjoyed this song because it is very energetic. And it has excellent arrangements and details that are certainly a delight to hear, and even more so to play.
