Hive Open Mic Week 179 - Kera Sakti (Cover Song) by IndonesiaBersatu

Hello brothers and sisters in the Hive Open Mic community, it's great to be able to participate again in the weekly #OpenMic event which has entered its 179th week, with the theme Urban Music, chosen by our friend @jetta.amaya. At first, I had no idea what urban music was. I looked it up on the internet, and found several types of urban music, namely:

• JAZZ
• Funk
• SOUL/R&B
• BLUES
• HIP HOP
• Reggae
• DUB
• ELECTRONIC MUSIC
• ROCK-n-ROLL

After knowing the different types of urban music, I decided to choose a hip-hop song. However, it was not easy to sing it.

This was the most difficult presentation for me to sing because I had never tried a hip-hop song to sing. It took me 4 days to practice the vocal rap. Even in the recording, I got a lot of repetitions because of the wrong pronunciation of words, sometimes it was also late in pronunciation. I admit that rapping is very difficult. I admire and salute hip-hop musicians who can rap vocally and can balance breathing in hip-hop singing.

The song I chose for this week's theme is called Kera Sakti, in English, Monkey Magic. This song was created by an Indonesian hip-hop group, Sindikat31, which is the soundtrack to the film Journey To The West. This was my favourite movie as a child. The film tells the story of an monkey with divine powers named Sun Gokong. He accompanies a Buddhist monk who becomes his teacher, and journeys to the West to retrieve the sacred scriptures. This film is very exciting and also has Buddhist philosophical lessons that are indeed fun to watch. Below are the lyrics and translation;

In the process of making this song cover, I used Fruity Loops or FL software to create a drum beat in this song. Then I edited again using Adobe Audition CC software while adding vocal and bass sounds. In the final process, I used Adobe Premiere Pro software for audio-visual editing.
