My first introduction to Michael Jackson that I can remember is, for some strange reason my grade 4 teacher played in class the video clip for Thriller. You know the one. Werwolfs, Zombies, dancing... Scared the crap out of me at the time but not enough because it didn't stop me from listnening to the albumn, Vincent Price's laugh at the end still gets me if it's dark outside.
One school holiday not long after Thriller came out our family had a road trip to Sydney and on the way (very very pre-ipad) we took it in turns listening to cassettes in the back seat. I have two older sisters and back in the day one of them was mildly obsessed with Michael Jackson and the other was into christian 'very soft rock'. So for about 9 hours we'd hear Thriller played from start to finis twice, then some crap album from a guy called Keith Green. It was a live album that she had and I still remember a quote that he says between songs: "Going to church makes you a christian just as much as going to McDonalds makes you a hamburger".... thing about it.... huh?
This song is from the album and one of the better ones IMHO. The guitar is nothing special but is played by one of my favourites - Steve Lukather. Like much of his stuff it just works with the song. Not sure who wrote it, but it does sound very Toto-ish. Steve plays musicman guitars but I don't have one of those otherwise I would have played it yesterday for Musicman Monday. So instead here it is for TeleTuesday!
Enjoy people. Stay safe!!
