The trumpet was actually the first brass wind instrument I got to be familiar with. I however never got to learn it early. Most of the music I heard as a child that had brass sections all sounded like trumpets to me. So whether it was a trombone, a saxophone, a french horn or even a tuba, I just called them trumpets as a kid. They all seemed to have that shrill brassy sound that really sounded beautiful when played together in harmony.

I discovered the saxophone much much later in my teenage. I didn’t even think I would one day play the saxophone because it looked super complex to me.
Playing the saxophone, it sounded to me like a middle ground between all the wind instruments and so I loved it. It became my "trumpet sound".

I explored harmony in this piece to bring out the "shrill" beauty the trumpet could sound like, even though I played the song on a saxophone.
It's a song I have recently been hearing so frequently recently and so I decided to play on it.
