Este es un microrelato inspirado en una carta del juego Risingstar. La carta en la que me inspiré se llama Arthur y aunque se ve bastante colorida y alegre, en el microrelato quise darle un toque un poco más oscuro y realista a la vida que ciertos artistas llevan, viviendo de falsedad y de las apariencias.

Me cuesta creer todas las historias que cuento esos días, a veces solo las cuento para alegrar al grupo con el que acostumbro a salir todas las noches. Normalmente soy el alma de la fiesta, aquel que cuenta historias o anécdotas mientras todos están reunidos alrededor de la mesa con las bebidas y lo demás, nótese lo demás como aquello que no se puede mencionar...

Sí les voy a ser muy sincero, este mundo de la música no es como yo lo esperaba. Pensé que simplemente iba a estar en algunos toques cada fin de semana y luego me dedicaría a practicar y organizar más toques el resto de la semana, pero la cosa no es tan fácil como parece...

Mi manager me dijo que hay que hacer algo que se conoce como “Relaciones públicas”. Entiendo por qué hay que hacerlas, pero yo no quiero estar haciendo eso, quiero tocar, quiero hacer mi música y alegrar a las personas con mis canciones, no con mi dinero, mis bebidas o esas cosas a las que simplemente se han vuelto adictos..

Me he dado cuenta que muchos supuestos amigos ahora llegan a donde estoy, me saludan, incluso me abrazan y dicen con orgullo que son amigos míos. Antes ni siquiera recordaban mi nombre...

Ahora no gano demasiado, pero mi manager dice que si hago suficientes relaciones públicas llamaré bastante la atención de las disqueras y me darán un contrato. Espero que eso sea verdad porque a veces no compensa.

Solo imaginen cómo es mi semana. Me levanto a trabajar en ese mugroso restaurante en donde el plato estrella es un sándwich de tocino con queso y huevo. La parrilla está siempre sucia y al dormir aún puedo sentir el olor a grasa en mi nariz.

Todos los días es lo mismo hasta que llega el fin de semana, donde por fin puedo ir al club a tocar mi música. Y me pagan un poco más por ello, pero resulta que después de tocar debo gastar más de lo que debería con mis tarjetas, haciendo fiestas para personas que nunca antes había visto, consumiendo bebidas de colores extravagantes o simplemente escuchando música distinta a la que suelo escuchar, porque, como dicen, es la música que se escucha en ese club.

Sé que a esas personas no les gusta estar conmigo, a mi tampoco me gusta estar con ellos, pero supongo que debo sonreír. Debo levantar mis pulgares y complacerlos, crear una falsa apariencia para que pueda cuadrar en este mundo, que pensé que era más bonito e inocente; pero no, el inocente fui yo, quien pensó que simplemente bastaría con tocar una vez a la semana en el club y luego volver a casa...

Debí hacer caso a mi mamá y seguir estudiando. Pero al menos espero que la disquera me de ese contrato pronto, de lo contrario mi falsa sonrisa, esta colorida vestimenta y mi alegría momentánea quedará sumergida en deudas y tarjetas sobregiradas. Supongo que es el precio de la fama...

This is a short story inspired by a card from the game Risingstar. The card I was inspired by is called Arthur and although it looks quite colorful and cheerful, in the micro-story I wanted to give a darker and more realistic touch to the life that certain artists lead, living of falsehood and appearances.

I find it hard to believe all the stories I tell those days, sometimes I just tell them to cheer up the group I usually go out with every night. I'm usually the life of the party, the one who tells stories or anecdotes while everyone is gathered around the table with the drinks and the rest, note the rest as that which can not be mentioned ....

Yes I am going to be very honest with you, this music world is not what I expected it to be. I thought I was just going to play a few gigs every weekend and then I would practice and organize more gigs the rest of the week, but it's not as easy as it seems....

My manager told me that you have to do something called "Public Relations". I understand why you have to do it, but I don't want to be doing that, I want to play, I want to make my music and make people happy with my songs, not with my money, my drinks or those things that they just got addicted to....

I have noticed that many so-called friends now come to where I am, greet me, even hug me and proudly say that they are my friends. Before they didn't even remember my name.....

Now I don't earn much, but my manager says that if I do enough PR I will get enough attention from record labels and they will give me a contract. I hope that's true because sometimes it doesn't pay off.

Just imagine what my week is like. I get up to work in that dingy restaurant where the signature dish is a bacon cheese and egg sandwich. The grill is always dirty and when I sleep I can still smell the grease in my nose.

Every day it's the same until the weekend comes, where I can finally go to the club to play my music. And I get paid a little more for it, but it turns out that after I play I have to spend more than I should on my cards, throwing parties for people I've never seen before, consuming extravagantly colored drinks or just listening to different music than I usually listen to, because, as they say, that's the music you hear in that club.

I know those people don't like being with me, I don't like being with them either, but I guess I have to smile. I must put my thumbs up and please them, create a false appearance so I can fit into this world, which I thought was prettier and more innocent; but no, the innocent one was me, who thought it would be enough to just play once a week at the club and then go home....

I should have listened to my mom and kept on studying. But at least I hope the label will give me that contract soon, otherwise my fake smile, this colorful outfit and my momentary joy will be submerged in debt and overdrawn credit cards. I guess that's the price of fame....
