Electronic Soul Jazz 1

This is free-form improvisation with a beat. I have been experimenting with this concept for a number of years.
I was fascinated by the combination of "real" instruments with electronic music. I first went to play with a DJ and improvised over all his tracks, and it worked well.
This gave me the idea. Since I play so many instruments, I incorporated them.
My idea is to play whatever comes. House music is about creating energy. Jazz, is also, about creating energy.
I draw heavily on influences from soul and funk music, combining them with electronic beats.
Some of these are my own, some are sampled like a DJ. The tracks/beats are programmed in Ableton Live like a grid. But the instruments themselves are all played by me.
I record with a looper at my feet. I try to feel the mood, to figure out the next thing I should do. I particularly like the background for this video, It has a psychedelic appeal to it. The mirror creates a thoughtful vibe, while the plants create the natural connection. The blue couch reminds me of a psychedelic sixties party, or maybe something Prince would do :) Enjoy!

Esta es una improvisación de forma libre con un ritmo. He estado experimentando con este concepto durante varios años.
Me fascinó la combinación de instrumentos "reales" con música electrónica. Primero fui a tocar con un DJ e improvisé sobre todas sus pistas, y funcionó bien.
Esto me dio la idea. Como toco tantos instrumentos, los incorporé.
Mi idea es jugar a lo que venga. La música house se trata de crear energía. El jazz también se trata de crear energía.
Me baso mucho en las influencias de la música soul y funk, combinándolas con ritmos electrónicos.
Algunos de estos son míos, algunos están muestreados como un DJ. Las pistas/ritmos se programan en Ableton Live como una cuadrícula. Pero los instrumentos en sí son todos tocados por mí.
Grabo con un looper a mis pies. Trato de sentir el estado de ánimo, de averiguar lo siguiente que debo hacer. Me gusta especialmente el fondo de este video, tiene un atractivo psicodélico. El espejo crea un ambiente reflexivo, mientras que las plantas crean la conexión natural. El sofá azul me recuerda a una fiesta psicodélica de los años sesenta, o tal vez algo que Prince haría :) ¡Disfrútalo!
