Following up to my recent entries featuring my trip to the north and England and Scotland, I thought I would make a short video featuring the sites of interest in Newcastle and the surrounding area.
Video can often show off a given location more as well as the sheer scale of some areas.
Vindolanda for example was huge and has a recreation of what the front gate may have looked like and the excavations seemed to be ongoing compared to other places.
Who would have thought that a drone would be hovering over a room or basement of where a Roman once was?!
I was particularly in awe of the Homestead fort on the cliff and that the walls were curved and built with such perfection.
Hadrian must have had a clear vision of what he wanted!
Bamburgh castle has been on my 'to visit' list for a while, it was quite far from my hotel but I am really glad that I went. It is almost a fortress looking at the way it was designed and constructed, guarding the coast in between the dunes of the beach.
Speaking of which, it is all foreshore so I spent a large chunk of time freely fliying around when the tide was out.
Locations in the video-
Segedunum Fort and Baths, Wallsend
Vindolanda Fort
Housesteads Fort and Hadrians Wall
Warkworth Castle and town
Bamburgh Castle
I recently treated myself to a much needed pc upgrade so now video editing is a dream.
I plan to make more soon and any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Take care everyone, until the next time!
