Guacamelee 2 | A Luchador, a Bird and a Cactus get into a Fight!

Today, we are going back into the Mexiverse. We continue are quest for the relics to stop Salvador. This is Guacamlee 2.

We are still trying to piece out the whole problem with this End-of-the-World scenario. And for this it seems, we're going back to Inferno. It seems fitting to find some answer in the lowest of places.

Around here, the game throws some interesting references that I loved. First, we find a Mimic. That's a clear nod to Dark Souls! And of course it's to that game according to the dialogue. Also, among these caverns, we'll find the entrance to the Dankest Timeline. A place of sorrows and old memes. The game acknowledges its own overuse of memes as a trope. Talk about breaking the 4th wall.

All the pools of lava around hell have only one easy way to traverse, and that's by gaining the last ability which was renamed Wall Fly in this game. A pretty straightforward move from a wall into the air punching everything in our path, but also requiring to keep an eye out for any obstacle that might get into our path.

As this is a metroidvania, it's sure lots of the exploration in this area is centered around this move. and it also serves as a way of opening our path up to find out where Zope and Cactuardo are hiding the Golden Egg stolen from the Chicken Illuminati.

This area was a lot of work in the whole platforming since the obstacle got ever trickier and some of the rooms filled with enemies were hard to clear out.

We might had gotten lucky towards the end by finding a blue feather. This turns us into the Goliath Chicken and we are able to destroy enemies. It's like Mario' star power-up, but with more feathers. Unfortunately, we found it before getting to our bid fight and we most face the heretic Zope by our own means.

It doesn't matter. This fight is very straightforward. It has two phases. In one we have to fight Zope alone; the second requires striking the bird to damage Cactuardo. I have to admit it's been one of the more interesting boss fights in the game.

No nos rendimos tan fácil

Hoy volvemos al Mexiverso. Continuaremos nuestra aventura para conseguir las reliquias y detener a Salvador. Esto es Guacamelee 2.

Todavía estamos tenemos que averiguar cómo resolver todo este asunto del fin del mundo. Y parece ser que nuestro camino apunta hacia el Infierno. Parece lógico buscar una solución en el lugar más bajo de todos.

Aquí nos vamos a encontrar dos referencias geniales que me encantaron. La primera fue un Mímico. Eso es una refencia a Dark Souls. Y el diálogo del cofre lo confirma. Además de esta, unas cuevas nos llevaran a una de las líneas de tiempo más raras de todas. Aquí están todos los memes viejos. Y resulta que el juego reconoce su abuso de estos. Eso es romper la cuarta pared con efecto de metaficción.

Todas estas piscinas de lava en el infierno son un obstáculo para avanzar. Para esto, vamos a desbloquear la última habilidad. Ahora se llama Wall Fly. Con esto podemos lanzarnos de una pared a otra golpeando lo que esté en nuestro camino y literalmente volar sobre los obstáculos. Claro, tenemos que estar pendientes de lo que esté al frente para no detener nuestro vuelo.

Como en cualquier metroidvania, la exploración se vuelve más difícil entre más cerca nos encontremos del final. Así que por estos lados vamos a tener que usar mucho nuestras habilidades para supuerar retos. Varias de las habitaciones llenas de enemigos son bastante difíciles de limpiar. Nuestra nueva habilidad nos va a ayudar a abrir el camino hacia Zope y Cactuardo. Así podremos recuperar el huevo dorado que fue robado a los Pollos Illuminati.

Nuestro golpe de suerte está en la pluma azul que encontramos cerca del final. Con este power-up podemos derrotar enemigos y somos invulnerables. Algo así como la estrella de Mario, pero más emplumada. Lo malo es que este se gasta justo antes de la pelea con el jefe. Así que nos tenemos que enfrentar a Zope por nuestros medios.

No importan los power-ups. Esta pelea un muy sencilla. Tiene dos fases. En la primera, peleamos contra Zope; la segunda, requiere derribar a Zope para poder dañar a Cactuardo. Tengo que admitir que esta ha sido una de mis peleas favoritas en lo que va de juego.
