Hi there, my fellow musicians and music lovers!

Today, we are back on the stage of #Openmic for its 150th week. This time I bring a beautiful piece from the traditional genre "Gaita Zuliana". It's know as "Los Pregones Zulianos" from composer Rafael Rincón González. "Pregones" are a reference to town criers. These are the news that are told out loud on squares and public places. In the case of the songs, it's about street vendors. How some of them go around announcing their goods and pieces for people to come around, have a look, and, maybe, buy something.

This traditions isn't so common nowadays. The last remnants of it are trucks sealing vegetables and a few people selling fish or other things. In other countries, town criers are more relevant as a piece of tradition. They give news or important announcements in their town. Some even work for royal families.

This Gaita Zuliana captures part of the essence of the days of yore and how these sellers were around many places.

I hope you enjoy my performance. Again, my Venezuelan Cuatro, Embla, does the whole job!
