Hello my dear friends of the Hive community, I hope you are having a wonderful day! This time I present a posture that from my point of view is one of the most complete of Yoga, as it allows you to work different muscle groups.
There are also many postures that are very complete, not that this is the only one, but to present different physical and mental challenges, if I think that for a practice of any level could offer a comprehensive work, especially when you have little time and want to do a good workout.
The warm-up is the same for all practitioners and is all about "warming up hips", it is simply performing movements that can be rotational or proper opening movements to make it possible to get to the end of the asana.
The practice of twisting can also be useful, but it is essential to focus on the hips. Warming up the wrists is also an excellent step at this point in the asana.
At this point and as you can see in the video, is when you will first seek to raise the hips and then one foot and the other alternately, and then try it with both together, in an intense arm balance that demands mainly abdominal strength.
At this point, the practitioner should practically have a good time of Yoga, being thus, an intermediate or advanced practitioner.
In the beginning, if you are a beginner, you can take two blocks and practice with them until you develop the balance to be able to lift yourself completely.
In this case, the back of the knee, or popliteal hollow, is brought to one shoulder, so that as you rise, you already feel the hip opening that will be part of the final posture.
This can also be done with two blocks.
Once this is trained, the practitioner will be ready to do the final posture, which involves an intense flexion, accompanied by an arm balance. In this, one leg is supported on the triceps of the same side, as you can see in the images and in the video.
Because as I mentioned previously, it puts different muscle groups into action.
It allows the development of arm strength and balance; it demands abdominal strength to rise and to hold the posture; it requires leg strength that accompanies the abdomen in the elevation.
And all this generates that the mind itself is challenged, since at the beginning it may give the feeling that one is going to fall, or it may seem "impossible", but little by little this is overcome until one is able to advance in the asana.
As this is a complex posture, there are two fundamental aspects to take into account: one is that there should be no injury to the wrists, or pain, because the weight of the body on them added to the force required to rise, can be quite harmful to the body.
The other is that if there is abdominal surgery, more than 6 months must have passed since the surgery due to the abdominal strength required.
As it is an intense flexion, it is essential to do an extension after this asana, to bring the spine to its axis and for the energy centers to be balanced, as the flexions tend to close them.
In this case I present the Bridge Posture.
I hope you can practice it a little and then let me know what you think of it.
