Hola, amigos de #GeekZone. Hoy les traigo el inicio de una nueva aventura, se trata de "Night in the Woods", un juego Indie de aventura y desarrollo de historia, creado por Infinity Fall, en el cual tomaremos el papel de Mae, una joven de 20 años que ha abandonado sus estudios universitarios para regresar a vivir en casa de sus padres, en su pueblo de origen. Al regresar, Mae se encuentra que el lugar no está pasando su mejor momento, hay obras en cada esquina, el trabajo está escaso y algo extraño ha comenzado a suceder por las noches, algo peligroso.

Comencé este juego con muchísimas ganas, tenía tiempo queriendo probarlo, pero por alguna razón que ya recuerdo no lo había hecho. Visualmente, me llama mucho la atención y por eso, revisando en mi lista de juegos, que tan amablemente ha regalado Epic Games, opté porque este fuera mi siguiente aventura. Después de un buen rato de juego, debo decir que no sé como sentirme al respecto a él, el diseño del juego es espectacular, al igual que su música, el problema para mí es que tiene cero acción, es básicamente hablar e ir desentrañando la historia de Mae, del pueblo y de sus habitantes. Tiene un estilo de juego bastante sencillo, ya que solamente nos permite correr, saltar e interactuar tanto con objetos como con personas.

Como se pueden dar cuenta en el video, el juego es prácticamente hablar, cuadros de diálogos sin parar, esto puede resultar un poco cansado, sobre todo porque están únicamente en inglés. Por suerte, la mayoría de sus diálogos son interesantes e ingeniosos, así que no son totalmente una pérdida de tiempo, además de que en muchos tendremos que tomar decisiones que eventualmente influirán en el desarrollo de la historia. Dentro del mismo juego encontraremos "minijuegos" que nos distraerán un poco de tanta plática, el primero que me encontré fue una especie de Guitar Hero, en el cual, para sorpresa de nadie, soy malísima.

En este primer gameplay pasaron muy pocas cosas interesantes, creo que la más relevante es el descubrimiento de un brazo cercenado por parte de Mae y su pandilla de amigos. Sin embargo, ese solo detalle es suficiente para convencerme de seguirlo jugando y descubrir qué esconde Possum Springs. Claro, su gran estilo visual, su musicalización y esa sensación hogareña y de nostalgia también ayuda a que quiera pasar muchas horas asumiendo el papel de Mae. Espero que aparezcan más misterios que le sumen emoción a este aparentemente tranquilo juego.

Home again | "Night in the Woods" - Gameplay

Hello, friends of #GeekZone. Today I bring you the start of a new adventure, it is "Night in the Woods", an Indie adventure and story development game, created by Infinity Fall, in which we will take the role of Mae, a 20 year old girl who has abandoned her university studies to return to live at her parents' house, in her hometown. Upon returning, Mae finds that the place is not going through its best moment, there are construction sites on every corner, work is scarce and something strange has started to happen at night, something dangerous.

I started this game with a lot of desire, I had been wanting to try it for a long time, but for some reason that I remember I had not done it. Visually, it really catches my attention and that's why, reviewing my list of games, so kindly given by Epic Games, I opted for this to be my next adventure. After a good while of playing, I must say that I do not know how to feel about it, the game design is spectacular, as well as its music, the problem for me is that it has zero action, it is basically talking and unraveling the story of Mae, the town and its inhabitants. It has a fairly simple gameplay style, as it only allows us to run, jump and interact with both objects and people.

As you can see in the video, the game is practically talking, non-stop dialog boxes, this can be a bit tiring, especially because they are only in English. Fortunately, most of the dialogues are interesting and witty, so they are not totally a waste of time, plus in many of them we will have to make decisions that will eventually influence the development of the story. Within the game itself we will find "mini-games" that will distract us a little from so much talk, the first one I found was a kind of Guitar Hero, in which, to no one's surprise, I suck at.

In this first gameplay very few interesting things happened, I think the most relevant is the discovery of a severed arm by Mae and her gang of friends. However, that detail alone is enough to convince me to keep playing it and discover what Possum Springs hides. Of course, its great visual style, music, and that homey, nostalgic feel also helps make me want to spend many hours taking on the role of Mae. Hopefully more mysteries will pop up to add excitement to this seemingly quiet game.
