Women in my life

I probably should have posted this yesterday, but I guess the entire week is devoted to women so anyday works. Also, I've been extremely lazy with posting these past couple of days, if it hasn't been so obvious.

I've been occupied either physically or mentally with different activities and I usually don't function properly when I don't have my days planned properly. And my days have been anything but planned properly for a while now.

Nonetheless, I'm celebrating women. Unfortunately, it's pretty ironocal because I'm not a fan of the emotional blackmail that comes with being female. I always sense it in times like these and my mind just doesn't accept it.

I appreciate my mother. Not because she gave birth to me, but because she was a lot more attentive than my dad. If my dad was a good listener, chances are, I would have preferred him to her. I'm not a mummy's girl just because she's female. There are other factors.

As much as we like to believe that women are celebrating women these days, we're also our biggest rivals. But we don't need to hear that right now. We only need to hear the good parts and not think about the fact that there's pure hatred for absolutely no reason sometimes.

A couple of days ago, I was having a conversation with my friends and they all talked about the different ways their mothers used emotional blackmail to get them to do things. They would say things like"I suffered to give birth to you" and shit like that.

We can't deny the fact that they went through pain but if not you, who else? Nature made it so, and so has it been for decades. This is how it is. We can't be held hostage forever because of a decision you made, you knew it would hurt before you agreed to do it.

I appreciate women. I appreciate myself. I go through pain every month during my menstrual cycle. However, I don't expect a monument to be built for me because I'm doing what my body was designed to do.

This isn't exactly the best post on appreciating women and the truth is, as much as the pain exists, we know from birth that we will experience this so please, appreciate women for something else other than what their bodies were designed to do.

Think about what really makes a woman special and appreciate her for that.
