A Surprise Storm / Una Tormenta Sorpresiva

La Fría is a city whose rainy mountain climate is present permanently, therefore showers and storms usually arrive suddenly with all their fury discharging thousands of liters of water in a matter of seconds, in addition these storms are usually accompanied by large gusts of air that vibrate ceilings, windows and doors.

La Fría es una ciudad cuyo clima lluvioso de montaña está presente de forma permanente, por lo tanto los chubascos y tormentas suelen llegar de forma repentina con toda su furia descargando miles de litros de agua en cuestiones de segundos, además estos temporales suelen estar acompañados de grandes ráfagas de aire que hacen vibrar los techos, ventanas y puertas.

On this occasion the night came with an impressive calm, but in a matter of a few minutes a strong breeze began to blow, little by little the clouds took over the firmament and from one moment to another the flashes caused by the lightning began to dazzle everything, followed by from the characteristic roar that made our skin freeze, inevitably the rain began to hit the ground and a totally cold climate began to take over these lands that are normally characterized by being hot.

En esta oportunidad la noche llegaba con una tranquilidad impresionante, pero en cuestión de pocos minutos comenzó a correr mucha brisa, poco a poco las nubes se apoderaron del firmamento y de un momento a otro los destellos causados por los relámpagos comenzaron a deslumbrarlo todo, seguido del característico estruendo que nos hacía helar la piel, de forma inevitable la lluvia comenzó a chocar contra el suelo y un clima totalmente frio comenzaba a apoderarse de estas tierra que normalmente se caracterizan por ser calientes.

This is how in less than 30 minutes the tranquility disappeared to give way to the despair of the torrential rain, where many who were in the street were caught by surprise and those of us who were at home had to run to lock doors and windows, this in order that the impulse of the water does not wet the interior of our homes, minutes later the electrical service would be interrupted and we would enter more than five hours of a storm that seemed to have no end.

Es así como en menos de 30 minutos la tranquilidad desapareció para darle paso al desespero de la lluvia torrencial, en donde muchos que se encontraban en la calle se vieron atrapados por sorpresa y los que estábamos en casa tuvimos que correr para trancar puertas y ventanas, esto con la finalidad de que el impulso del agua no mojara el interior de nuestros hogares, minutos más tarde el servicio eléctrico se vería interrumpido y nos adentraríamos en más de cinco horas de una tormenta que no parecía tener final.

The sounds of the rain are impressive, while the drops hit everything in their path, the thunder rumbles even in the depths of our being, but in the distance it is also heard how the land of the mountain slides, like the branches of the trees. trees crash against the ground and as the roofs of some houses creak in a face-to-face struggle with nature to stay in place, the street little by little was covered with several centimeters of water, while in my house we could only stand on the corridor and admire the great force of nature.

Los sonidos propios de la lluvia son impresionantes, mientras las gotas golpean todo a su paso los truenos retumban hasta en lo mas profundo de nuestro ser, pero a lo lejos también se escucha como la tierra de la montaña se desbarranca, como las ramas de los arboles chocan contra el piso y como los techos de algunas casas crujen en una lucha frente a frente con la naturaleza por mantenerse en su sitio, la calle poco a poco se tapaba con varios centímetros de agua, mientras que en mi casa solo podíamos pararnos en el corredor y admirar la grandiosa fuerza de la naturaleza.
