Forty years that I have been dedicated to the research of Venezuelan traditional music, especially that of Caracas, did not make things easy for me when it came to choosing a song to answer the call of @bertrayo and @hiveopenmic. On the contrary, I think I found it more difficult because the options were too many.

However, a few days ago, talking to my wife, @tiaene, she told me that one of the songs she most associated with me is this one, La Quisquillosa, which I recorded many years ago with my group Los Cañoneros. At that time I realized that it was actually one of my favorite songs. Only that when I first heard it, I was at a time when I didn't want to know more about the group's project (something that lasted a very short time), and I thought that I would never get to record it.

However, as soon as I had the opportunity, I recorded it.

One of the things I liked about this Caracas Merengue, is that even though it was composed around 1940 (according to my calculations), by Juan Gil, it has a very modern feel to it. I used this element to give it, at the time, a very modern arrangement, even with a rock element and, without a doubt, it was one of those songs that I enjoyed singing a lot.

These last ones were the reasons to bring it today for the Hive Open Mic, week 152 as my contribution to this wonderful activity.

Cuarenta años que llevo dedicado a la investigación de la música tradicional venezolana y en especial la de Caracas, no me facilitaron las cosas a la hora de escoger una canción, para atender el llamado de @bertrayo y de @hiveopenmic. Al contrario, creo que me resultó más difícil, porque las opciones eran demasiadas.

Sin embargo, hace unos días, hablando con mi esposa, @tiaene, ella me comentaba que una de las canciones que ella más asociaba conmigo, es esta, La Quisquillosa, la cual la grabé hace muchos años con mi grupo Los Cañoneros. En ese momento caí en cuenta que en realidad era uno de mis temas preferidos. Solo que cuando lo conocí, estaba en un momento que no quería saber más del proyecto del grupo (algo que duró muy poco tiempo), y pensaba que no lo llegaría a grabar nunca.

Sin embargo, apenas tuve la oportunidad, lo grabé.

Una de las cosas que me gustó de este merengue caraqueño, es que a pesar de haber sido compuesto cerca de 1940 (según calculo yo), por Juan Gil, tiene un aire bastante moderno. De este elemento me agarré yo para hacerle, en su momento, un arreglo bastante moderno, hasta con elemento del rock y, sin duda, era de esos temas que he disfrutado mucho cantar.

Estas últimas fueron las razones para traerlo hoy para el Hive Open Mic, semana 152 como mi aporte a esta maravillosa actividad.
