Sometimes one does not know whether to be happy or saddened by the breadth offered by the Internet, because although it is true that the amount of information that one finds there is magnificent, it is also true that it lends itself to circulate information without basis, which makes it difficult to reach the "truth" of some data.

The song "Cachita" is undoubtedly one of the greatest hits that have traveled the world and have given diffusion to Latin rhythms. Although possibly the most popular and well-known version of this song is that of the Cuban orchestra Aragón, there is a lot of confusing information about its history.

The information I had since the 80's is that it is a rumba composed by the Puerto Rican musician Rafael Hernández, with lyrics by Bernardo Sancristóbal and that it was originally recorded by the Cuban orchestra Casino de la Playa, a big band.

Before publishing in Hive, I always like to corroborate information and I find to my surprise that the only Bernardo Sancristóbal who is reviewed is a Spanish actor who lived in Mexico. However, I have not found a single piece of information that says it is the same person. Although I personally think it could be, since Mexico, with the gigantic film distribution network it managed to assemble, became a center for the creation and diffusion of Cuban music (among many others). It would not be unusual for the song to have been part of a Mexican film project and for the Spanish actor to have played his creative part in this piece.

Rafael Hernández, although from Puerto Rico, made many contributions to Latin music and it would not be strange that he did this song for a film, or that he had been asked for it for that purpose. Although it is worth mentioning that Hernández's poetry and lyrics are incomparable beauties.

However, I found many places on the net that mention Xavier Cugat as the author of the lyrics, an excellent Spanish musician, who lived in Cuba as a child and later became a band leader in New York City and one of the greats in contributing to the development of Latin music.

The truth is that I did not find any conclusive information, so it will be up to each one to draw their own conclusions and if you find the answers, leave them for me in the comments.

But all these, today I didn't feel like telling much about the song, only that I had chosen a cheerful and festive one because I have many reasons to be happy and the main one (although the official announcement is not out yet) is that the Spanish curation community and guild (La Colmena), which I run since 2018, became a witness of Hive and although it has not yet produced its first block, it is ready and prepared for such a task and you can already vote for @la-colmena.

A veces uno no se sabe si alegrarse o entristecerse por la amplitud que ofrece internet, porque aunque es cierto que es magnífica la cantidad de información que uno encuentra allí, también es cierto que se presta para que circulen informaciones sin base, que dificultan llegar a la "verdad" de algunos datos.

La canción "Cachita" es sin duda uno de los grandes éxitos que han recorrido el mundo y han dado difusión a los ritmos latinos. Aunque posiblemente la versión más popular y conocida de esta canción sea la de la orquesta cubana Aragón, hay mucha información que confunde respecto a su historia.

La información que yo tenía desde los años 80, es que se trata de una rumba compuesta por el músico puertorriqueño Rafael Hernández, con letra de Bernardo Sancristóbal y que fue grabada originalmente por la orquesta cubana Casino de la Playa, una de formato Big Band.

Antes de publicar en Hive, siempre me gusta corroborar la información y me encuentro con la sorpresa de que el único Bernardo Sancristóbal que está reseñado es un actor español que vivió en México. Sin embargo, no encontré una sola información que diga que se trata de la misma persona. Aunque en lo personal creo que pudiera ser, pues México, con la gigantesca red de distribución de cine que logró ensamblar, se convirtió en centro de creación y difusión de la música cubana (entre muchas otras). No tendría nada de raro que la canción hubiera formado parte de un proyecto cinematográfico mexicano y que el actor español hubiera puesto su parte creativa en esta pieza.

Rafael Hernández, aunque de Puerto Rico, hizo muchos aportes a la música latina y tampoco sería extraño que hiciera esta canción para alguna película, o que se la hubieran pedido para tal fin. Aunque vale mencionar que la poesía y las letras de Hernández, son bellezas incomparables.

Sin embargo, encontré muchos lugares de la red que mencionan a Xavier Cugat, como el autor de la letra, excelente músico español, que vivió en Cuba de niño y luego se convirtió en un líder de banda en la ciudad de Nueva York y uno de los grandes en aportar al desarrollo de la música latina.

Lo cierto es que no encontré ninguna información contundente, así que le quedará a cada uno sacar sus propias conclusiones y si encuentran las respuestas, me las dejan en los comentarios.

Pero a todas estas, hoy no tenía ganas de contar mucho de la canción, solo que había escogido una alegre y festiva porque tengo muchas razones para estar feliz y la principal (aunque todavía no ha salido el anuncio oficial) es que la comunidad y gremio de curación en español (La Colmena), que dirijo desde 2018, se convirtió en testigo de Hive y aunque todavía no ha producido su primer bloque, ya está listo y preparado para tal tarea y ya se puede votar por @la-colmena.
