Un barco cumanés anclado en la bahía
Fue escenario y testigo de un juego con afán.
Entre tragos y bromas, Álvaro el capitán
Dijo que a ti y a mí en nupcias uniría.

Dispusieron padrinos entre la algarabía
Y juntos nos sentaron, acorde con el plan
Entre rones y Whiskys solo faltó el champán
Y marido y mujer él nos declararía.

Nos dieron camarote por la luna de miel
Y allí nos olvidamos que aquello era un juego.
Nos besamos con fuerza, buscamos nuestra piel.

Arrancamos las ropas con feroz desosiego
Mas muy ebrio el padrino, barco sin timonel,
Irrumpió en nuestro nido y ahogó así nuestro fuego.

A boat from Cumana anchored in the bay
It was the scene and witness of a game with eagerness.
Between drinks and jokes, Alvaro the captain
Said he would join you and me in nuptials.

They arranged godparents amidst the din
And together they sat us down, according to the plan
Between rums and Whiskys only the champagne was missing
And husband and wife he would declare us.

They gave us a cabin for the honeymoon
And there we forgot that it was a game.
We kissed hard, we searched for our skin.

We tore off our clothes with fierce disobedience
But very drunk the best man, ship without helmsman,
Burst into our nest and thus drowned our fire.
