SHINING MOON / LUNA BRILLANTE

Hello, Maker Communities:

It is with joy that I am sharing today my entry for February's moon-themed challenge. This time I present a craft where I use an empty shampoo bottle and turn it into a table lamp.

Recycling is an important part of environmental care, so whenever possible I use empty containers. I use them to store other products or I modify them and give them another use, as is the case today.

The moon (this month's theme proposed by the community), witness of every love in our lives, is a source of inspiration on which many people have based their art or their form of expression. Based on this, I came up with the idea of projecting the moon in my work and here is a tutorial on how I did it.

Con alegría comparto hoy mi entrada al reto del mes de febrero con la temática de la luna. En esta ocasión presento una manualidad donde empleo una botella de shampú vacía y lo convierto en una lamparita de mesa.

Reciclar es una parte importante del cuidado medioambiental, por lo que siempre que me es posible utilizo los envases vacíos. Me apoyo en ellos para guardar otros productos o los modifico y les doy otro uso como es el caso de hoy.

La luna (tema de este mes propuesto por la comunidad), testigo de cada amor en nuestras vidas, es una fuente de inspiración sobre la que muchas personas han volcado su arte o su forma de expresión. Basado en esto, me llega la idea de proyectar a la luna en mi trabajo y a continuación les muestro un tutorial de cómo lo realicé.

Materials and tools used:

An empty shampoo bottle.
A socket.
A cable with a spike.
A light bulb.
Two screws with nuts.
A piece of rubber coating for cables.
One pencil.
A piece of cardboard.
One scissors.
A screwdriver.
A pair of needle-nose pliers.
A knife or blade with a blade tip.
A sheet of paper.

Materiales y herramientas empleados:

Un pomo de shampú vacío.
Un soquet.
Un cable con espiga.
Un bombillo.
Dos tornillos con tuerca.
Un pedazo de goma de recubrimiento para cables.
Un lápiz.
Un pedazo de cartulina.
Una tijera.
Un destornillador.
Una pinza de puntas finas.
Un cuchillo o cuchilla con cabo.
Una hoja de papel.

Step 1:

Paso 1:

Using the cardboard, draw a line around the circular perimeter of the bottle, leaving approximately 1.5 centimetres at the bottom of the bottle.

Con ayuda de la cartulina trazar una línea a todo el perímetro circular de la botella, dejando aproximadamente 1.5 centímetros de distancia al fondo de la botella.

Step 2:

Paso 2:

Cut along the mark carefully so that the cut is even.

Cortar por la marca realizada con mucho cuidado para que quede parejo el corte.

Step 3:

Paso 3:

Remove the dispenser part of the lid and by concentrically aligning the lid with the cut knob part, fasten it with the two screws.

Retirar la parte del dispensador de la tapa y haciendo coincidir concéntricamente la tapa con la parte del pomo cortado se fijan con los dos tornillos.

Step 4:

Paso 4:

Insert the cable through the opening of the dispenser and pull it out with the tweezers. This will be the base of the lamp.

Por la abertura del dispensador introducir el cable y con la ayuda de las pinzas tirar de él. Esta será la base de la lámpara.

Step 5:

Paso 5:

Draw the shape of a moon on the cardboard, which will serve as a template to create a design on the bottle.

Sobre la cartulina dibujar la forma de una luna que servirá de plantilla para crear un diseño sobre la botella.

Step 6:

Paso 6:

Carefully cut out the shapes drawn on the bottle with the knife. This will be the lampshade.

Calar con la ayuda del cuchillo y con mucho cuidado las formas dibujadas sobre la botella. Esta será la pantalla de la lámpara.

Step 7:

Paso 7:

Pass the cable through the mouth of the bottle and then screw on the cap. Put two small pieces of the rubber cable sleeve and insert them into the socket pin, making contact with the copper wires of the cable, with the help of the pliers. The electrical installation of the lamp is now complete.

Pasar el cable a través de la boca de la botella y luego enroscar en la tapa. Poner dos pequeños pedazos de la goma de recubrimiento para cables e insertarlos en la espiga del soquet, haciendo contacto con los hilos de cobre del cable, con la ayuda de la pinza. De esta forma ya está la instalación eléctrica de la lámpara.

Step 8:

Paso 8:

Just pull the cable carefully so that the socket is placed inside the mouth of the bottle and the lamp is ready. Then the bulb is inserted, a sheet of paper is placed over it so that the inside is not visible and the work is ready to connect and shine.

Solo tirar del cable con cuidado para que el soquet quede colocado dentro de la boca de la botella y ya queda lista la lámpara. Después se le introduce el bombillo, se le coloca una hoja de papel para que no se vea el interior y está preparado el trabajo para conectar y brillar.

It was a craft that I really enjoyed creating because of the meaning that the moon has for the existence of all living beings and the connotation that it has with people in love. That is why I wanted to bring my moon to my own room so that with its soft light it could illuminate my nights with my husband and my baby.

I must thank the team of this community, because thanks to this challenge I was encouraged to make a video and share it. I had never before dared to flirt with a programme by editing a video and although it was one of my plans for this year, I didn't think I would do it so soon. Once again it shows that interest and commitment are very important in a person's development. So thank you very much for the encouragement 🙏.

Fue una manualidad que disfruté mucho creándola por el significado que tiene la luna para la existencia de todos los seres vivos y la connotación que se le da con los enamorados. Por eso quise traer a mi propia habitación mi luna para que con su suave luz ilumine mis noches con mi esposo y mi bebé.

Debo agradecer al equipo de esta comunidad, pues gracias a este reto me animé a hacer un video y compartirlo. Nunca antes me había atrevido a coquetear con un programa editando un video y aunque era uno de mis planes para este año, no pensé que lo llevaría a cabo tan pronto. Una vez más se demuestra que el interés y el empeño son bien importantes en el desarrollo de la persona. Así que muchas gracias por el insentivo.🙏
