Greetings to everyone in the #Music community. I am happy to share my trumpet performance of "When She Loved Me", a beautiful ballad composed by Randy Newman for the movie Toy Story 2. Surely, you will remember it from the backstory of Jessie, the toy cowgirl. I love the background of the piano, that simplicity in the instrumentation creates an intimate and melancholic atmosphere. The original version in English is performed by Sarah McLachlan and in Spanish by Alessandra Rosaldo. The tempo is slow and the melody is descending. The melody is moving, with phrases that are repeated and emotionally built. The song is in the key of F major and has a harmonic progression I. IV. III and IV. The movement of the voices is mainly parallel or opposite and stability and consonance can be felt. Performing it on the trumpet is a beautiful experience, due to its soft dynamics, with few strong contrasts. The song tells the story of a toy who nostalgically remembers the happy times he lived with his owner, a girl named Emily. The lyrics talk about unconditional love, loss, the passage of time and loneliness.
