25 years have passed since an event that shocked the world, I was about 13 years old and I remember seeing on television the news of the death of Princess Diana of Wales in a traffic accident. I remember the burial in Westminster Abbey and the live performance of Elton John's "Candle in the Wind 1997". The song was composed by Elton John and Bernie Taupin and originally in honor of Marilyn Monroe in 1973, it was on this occasion of Diana's death that her friend Elton John rewrote it. It's a mix between Soft Rock and Glam Rock, which in the version dedicated to Diana says “Goodbye England's Rose”. Today I bring you my interpretation of the trumpet.

This song is a beautiful tribute, if I had to die, yes, as I tell my friends at 120 years old and without pain. (That would be the goal). I would like to be remembered in the lyrics of a song. In the words and music of a song, my spirit would be immortal. Something I like about popular folk music is that it passes from generation to generation, and over time it blends with the people, and the people make it their own. I remember an anecdote that a professor from the University told us, who met an Andean music group and they played "Brisas del Torbes", a bambuco by Luis Felipe Ramón y Rivera. Someone asked them a whose song that was, and they replied: "That's from us." That story seemed beautiful to me and I hope it happens with the music I write. To be a candle in the wind is to shine despite life's difficulties. To transcend, we have to make an effort to leave an indelible mark on the lives of others. Actions determine our destiny and the way we want to be remembered.

    Candle in the Wind

    Goodbye, Norma Jeane
Though I never knew you at all
You had the grace to hold yourself
    While those around you crawled
They crawled out of the woodwork
And they whispered into your brain
They set you on the treadmill
And they made you change your name

And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never knowing who to cling to
    When the rain set in
And I would've liked to know you
But I was just a kid
Your candle burned out long before
    Your legend ever did

    Loneliness was tough
The toughest role you ever played
    Hollywood created a superstar
And pain was the price you paid
    Even when you died
Oh, the press still hounded you
All the papers had to say
Was that Marilyn was found in the nude

And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never knowing who to cling to
    When the rain set in
And I would've liked to know you
But I was just a kid
Your candle burned out long before
    Your legend ever did

    Goodbye, Norma Jeane
Though I never knew you at all
You had the grace to hold yourself
    While those around you crawled
    Goodbye, Norma Jeane
From the young man in the twenty-second row
Who sees you as something more than sexual
More than just our Marilyn Monroe

And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never knowing who to cling to
    When the rain set in
And I would've liked to know you
But I was just a kid
Your candle burned out long before
    Your legend ever did
Your candle burned out long before
    Your legend ever did
