This time I share Roberta Flack's version, which is one of the first lyrics and versions of the song. It tells us about the impact of a song in our lives, that moves our memories and our pain. It is as if the wind stirred ashes. There are songs with which we identify ourselves because it speaks of our lives, the term to kill softly with its song, has an aspect of delirium and spite. He tells us about a young man who sings, who impresses us with his singing, with his style, and how we identify ourselves to the point of wanting to go see him and listen to him. She goes to the concert to listen to him, she blushes, and she feels sorry for the crowd, in her lyrics she seems to be a copy of her letters, she dares to pray that everything goes well.

Killing Me Softly with His Song

Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me softly with his song

I heard he sang a good song
I heard he had a style
And so I came to see him
    To listen for a while
And there he was, this young boy
    A stranger to my eyes

Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me softly with his song

I felt all flushed with fever
    Embarrassed by the crowd
I felt he found my letters
And read each one out loud
I prayed that he would finish
But he just kept right on

Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me softly with his song

He sang as if he knew me
    In all my dark despair
And then he looked right through me
    As if I wasn't there
And he just kept on singing
    Singing clear and strong

Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me softly with his song

Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
