When I refer to the known Witchcraft, different images, experiences, and concepts come to mind. I was just a child and I used to listen to my parents talk about a neighbor who was Brujo, this was a person who called himself Tamakún, I don't know if it was his first name it is a name influenced by a Cuban radio soap opera popularized in several Latin American countries. I remember that as a child I attended school with my brother and my cousins, and we always passed in front of an old woman who smoked tobacco, had a characteristic smell of cats and her appearance was disheveled. Her appearance and behavior made me think that she was a Witch. Over time, she was forming other criteria thanks to children's stories, animated films, and books. Other images were shaped by Books and Movies like The Lord of the Rings, The Harry Potter Saga of books, and not to mention Wanda Maximoff, Scarlet Witch, and Doctor Strange. Characters that were dark in my childhood became good, and even superheroes.

Now, at the University I learned about the religious syncretism that exists in our Latin American peoples, a cultural mix between the aboriginal religions, that of the peoples brought from Africa as slave labor, and the Catholic religion brought by the colonizers of these lands. I also learned about the different religious manifestations such as Voodoo, the Rastafari movement, Santeria, and different Afro-Caribbean cults. There is a significant difference between them. I respect all beliefs of all people, as well as expect people to respect what I believe. I firmly believe that religious freedom must be fought for and preserved. This time I present to you a Swing Jazz genre song called «Witchcraft» composed by Cy Coleman and with lyrics by Carolyn Leigh in 1957, the theme was popularized by Frank Sinatra and contains a strong syncretism with the magic of being in love, the theme talks about the taboo of being spellbound by that person you like, it is a very romantic song. I share the lyrics of this Jazz classic.

    Witchcraft

    (Verse)
    Those fingers in my hair
    That sly come-hither stare
    That strips my conscience bare
    It's witchcraft
And I've got no defense for it
The heat is too intense for it
What good would common sense for it
    Do?

    (Chorus)
    'Cause it's witchcraft, wicked witchcraft
And although I know it's strictly taboo
When you arouse the need in me
My heart says "Yes, indeed" in me
"Proceed with what you're leadin' me to"
    It's such an ancient pitch
    But one I wouldn't switch
Cause there's no nicer witch than you

    'Cause it's witchcraft, wicked witchcraft
And although I know it's strictly taboo
When you arouse the need in me
My heart says "Yes, indeed" in me
"Proceed with what you're leadin' me to"
    It's such an ancient pitch
    But one I wouldn't switch
Cause there's no nicer witch than you
